I'm really enjoying the Rowling podcast series. I think the "witch trials" imagery gets a little strained sometimes, but I get it as a narrative device. The third episode, which talked about the outsized influence of Tumblr and 4Chan in "how everyone talks now" was really informative. I didn't know any of that.

I was surprised by people yelling тАЬyou will die aloneтАЭ and тАЬyouтАЩre going to hellтАЭ. #1 if youтАЩre a religious person, then you have probably lived a life such that you donтАЩt believe that another person knows more about your ultimate destination than you do.
#2 As to тАЬyou will die aloneтАЭ at some point, when we cross over, we are greeted by friends and relatives. At least I believe that.
It seemed like a weird hybrid of beliefs..like being by yourself at this end of the journey is the worst thing that could happen. Just strange things to yell at someone. IMHO.
I think the people yelling that were the men claiming to be women who can't stand it when someone, especially a woman, doesn't buy it.
"Die alone" is a trope that some men of any sexuality use against women the men don't like: that you will die alone and be eaten by your cats. They say it even if you're a married woman with ten children and highly involved in church and community activities. If you have short hair when a man wants women to have long hair, "You'll die alone."
"Better that than anywhere around you," one might reply, but that's risky. "Oh, okay."
Well, it's not "Tides of History," but as information and commentary on current events, it's very strong. Ms. Phelps-Roper has an excellent "radio" voice and good pacing.
