The "Critical Race Theory -- which doesn't exist/isn't taught" just dropped into every MSM discussion or article is destined to become a meme as recognizable as the "Republicans pounce" meme of last year. In the last week, nearly every single story I've read in the NYT, WaPo, AP, NPR, etc. includes that exact gratuitous phrase, as if we shouldn't trust our lying eyes and brains. Keep up the great work Batya and Bari and congrats to the Virginia voters!

As if on cue, the NYT's Lisa Lerer managed to write a story hitting on both the "CRT isn't taught" and "Republicans pounce" memes, although interestingly enough, they changed the headline from when I first read the story this morning (which literally read "Republican Pounce on ...." to a different headline. If we didn't know it was sincere, it would be a parody.

What makes me sad is that the refutation of these lies is easily accomplished by anyone with half a neuron of curiosity left. The MSM relies on the cynical certainty that my intelligent liberal friends and family will not question a thing they read or hear. The ground of contempt and murderous hatred for our right-wing fellow Americans has been so well watered, that skepticism is not an option. Meanwhile, Rufo continues to publish the evidence, kids come home from school spouting racist crap, and we grow ever more alienated from the other half of the country. It's infuriating, and heartbreaking, really.

That has become my go to phrase "[S]hould I believe you or my lying eyes?"

And let’s give a huge shout-out to Christopher Rufo. About once a week he publishes another whistle-blower’s material revealing a public or private school CRT curriculum or a corporation’s mandatory, race-based, ideological bullying “diversity equity and inclusion” training. Recent reports exposed AT&T, CVS, and Walmart on the corporate end, and The National Education Association confirming its support for CRT-based education in public schools from K-12. https://christopherrufo.com/articles/
