This is an accident that is a tragedy for East Palestine, but also one that has resonance for all Americans, because it is easy to imagine similar accidents and similar fallout happening almost anywhere.

It was a mistake of the Biden Administration not to show up. As well, the combination of Biden's trip to Ukraine plus his failure to show up in East Palestine does no favors for American support for Ukraine.

In another contrast, I find it absurd that we are not responding to this accident to figure out how to reduce the incidence of other climate ruining accidents while spending vast sums trying to lower global temperatures slightly many years from now. Like the Ukraine visit, doing both is fine, but doing one without the other is galling.

Blowing up the Nordstream pipeline was a climate ruining intentional act by Biden. But oddly, no environmentalists seem to notice or care.

Interesting comment, NC.

You're throwing allegations around like water. Pretty much like the other tribe does to Trump..

Saying that Biden blew up the pipeline would require proof (I know there's a story out there..). Is there actionable proof? Not yet.. Is there a cover-up? Who knows.

I think it's similar to saying that Trump orchestrated Jan 6 by his comments on stage, of which we all heard. But is there proof he intended those comments to be taken literally? No. Could it be simply freedom of speech? Could be.

Is there proof he orchestrated Jan 6 from behind the scenes prior? Not yet. Is there a cover-up? Who knows. Proof is needed.

Something to keep in mind..

Lee, take it up with Seymour Hersch. He says he has a deep throat source(s).

But does he have proof? And why would you take the word of an NYT alumni who's going for the big scoop?

It's like me taking the NYT's word there were Russian intelligence ties to the Trump campaign. Where's the proof?

Well you may ask. But would Hersh spoil his reputation to embarrass a fellow democrat?

He obviously believes his name carries a lot weight. Enough weight that sources need not be named. He's betting his reputation is enough to pull it off. I don't think he cares who he nails.

Amazingly ignored story. An act of war with no congressional input/oversight

The fact that the corporate legacy press is so thoroughly ignoring the story lends to its credibility, in my view.

Who else could manage it so capably? The lack of reaction by the U.S. speaks volumes.
