I have the distinct "fate" of knowing several children with gender dysphoria. We try to treat each of them with respect and respect their chosen pronouns. I don't know it, but I believe most of them will choose their given gender as they age; whatever choice they make as an adult is their choice. The one situation that breaks my heart is a child, teen, on hormones, taking active steps to transition from female to male. This child was on the outside before this choice and is more on the outside now. We all call him his chosen name, use his chosen pronouns, and are heartbroken on how to include him. Every effort we have made to do so has been rebuffed (literally, we were told we were wrong when we encouraged engaged participation in the activity). None of us understand, we all want to include, we want this child to feel valued and welcomed. We are failing, and we don't know what else to do. It breaks my heart.

I remember a few years back about the uproar people had with various cultures and female bodily mutilation to young girls in the name of religion.

I have been wondering how this is fundamentally different, especially when applied to young 11-14 year olds (both young boys and girls), when prescribing various hormone replacement drugs.

Madjack, what gives you the authority to make this statement? тАЬThis is a psychological issue. PeriodтАЭ? There seem to be people who differ with your assessment: тАЬThese point to a possible biological and genetic underpinning of GD as stemming from a dissonance between gonadal development and brain sexual differentiation and orientation. However, GD is a multifactorial condition which biology alone cannot fully explain.тАЭ

Although there are many who are unhappy with those who are transgender, people from age 12 to 22 with gender dysphoria have almost three times the normal rate of suicide attempts. It seems as though theyтАЩre having a bit of difficulty, too, just like the rest of you. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7415463/
