My daughter played field hockey at a D1 school. The work and discipline it took to reach that level were enormous. I cannot imagine the pain she would feel if someone like Lia Thomas was on the field smashing record after record. It's absolutely wrong and the NCAA is abominable.

Would your daughter have spoken up against it? Would you have publicly spoken up?
ThatтАЩs a sincere question, not a passive-aggressive remark.
ThereтАЩs been a shocking lack of nerve among female athletes as the entire concept of womenтАЩs sports is destroyed.
A few years ago, Serena Williams was praised for advocating for equal pay. A few years later, a consensus is emerging that itтАЩs selfish for women to exclude biological men from their little hobby.
Of course, a few years ago, most тАЬpoliteтАЭ people claimed to oppose censorship and racial discrimination, too. A lot of things have changed.
I sent her this article and asked what she thought. She said she doesn't think it's fair for transgender athletes like Lia to compete in individual sports or sports where there is contact. However, I don't know what she would have done at the time. I think it would have been difficult for her to speak out because the pressure from the administration and "the Elect" would be overwhelming and she would have feared being ostracized.
I went through an experience at my former Unitarian Church in which I kept my mouth shut while a small band of Elect congregants took over. At that time, I quit rather than say anything. Now, I would most definitely speak up. When my daughter was in college, probably not.
The focus of this article is who gets the ribbon or trophy. There is Nothing about NCAA core values of; well-being, fairness, integrity, and teamwork. ItтАЩs been determined that transgender people who participate in sports have better mental health. So what weтАЩre talking about here is the emotional harm done to someone who didnтАЩt win a trophy, compared to not letting transgenderтАЩs compete. This means placing a higher value on someone winning a medal than the psychological well-being of transgenderтАЩs; what kind of value system is that?
Give me a break. Why does a transgender athlete in a male body get to harm cis women with impunity? Why is HER need for a trophy more important than the need of biological women to compete on a level playing field? My values include FAIRNESS. Do yours?
The article is essentially against transgenderтАЩs competing in competition against someone who doesnтАЩt have the same chromosome pairing, so is that fair to transgenderтАЩs psychological well-being?
You make two assumptions; neither one have you substantiated. Can you show me where transgender participation has hurt the integrity of womenтАЩs sports and the psychological well-being of women who participate?
Transgender athletes should compete against each other. ThatтАЩs fair for both transgender athletes and cis women.
You may believe the well-being of the few takes precedence over the well-being of the many but I donтАЩt. To me, transgender athletes should compete in their own category.
In 2016 they estimated 390 transgenderтАЩs per hundred thousand adults. Are you telling me there are more cisgender being affected than transgender? I think not! https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5227946/
My daughter played 4 years of rugby at college, and I'm glad she never had to deal with this. Its a safety issue, not just fairness, when talking about contact sports. How many more concussions and broken bones will we see if this goes on?
To its credit, World Rugby (the international governing body for the sport) banned the participation of trans-women in women's rugby in 2020. They based their decision on a survey of research in the field carried out by the Karolinska Institute in Sweden. The survey indicated that 1 or even 3 years of T suppression could not make up for the physical advantages gained by males who have gone through puberty.
My 10 year old has already played boys in club/ travel girls soccer. Several. The worst is the refs let them injure the girls (game and season ending) without calling fouls so as to follow the leftist mantra of never, ever criticize a white boy beating up on black and brown girls while heтАЩs playing dress upтАжтАж..

Is transgender psychological well-being more important than the integrity of women's sports and more broadly young women's psychological well-being?
You make two assumptions; neither one have you substantiated. Can you show me where transgender participation has hurt the integrity of womenтАЩs sports and the psychological well-being of women who participate?
Isn't that the subject of the article above, that we are all commenting on?
Your response is perfect.
Shocking, I say, just shocking; you came back with an inane response, alas not unusual!

there are already trans women (girls?) on high school teams....it is coming to colleges too
Not in South Dakota. You know, that horrible place with the horrible Governor. Funny, thoughтАФ the place is absolutely booming! Wonder why?
