Every time I hear you, Barri, talk about Ukraine and Russia, I can’t help being surprised. It’s as if someone took your picture and put it next to the definition of “single mindedness”. You have had several people on your own show talk in depth about the origins of the war in Ukraine. Instead of opening up your mind to the possibility that maybe, just maybe , things are not as black and white as you would like them to be, you continue to pound on the drum of moral highground. That we are somehow better than others and need to keep watch over our world for “everyone” to be safe.

It’s as if you did not hear these guests talk about how after promises were made, NATO didn’t expand eastward once or twice but twelve times eastward, moving within miles of the Russian border. It’s as if you did not hear them talk about how Russian populations were being oppressed with language and culture cancellations. Somehow you missed it when they talked about 2014 , when a lawfully elected president was usurped in an openly American backed coup. Did you hear when they told you about all of the attempts at negotiations thwarted by the US ?

To listen to you describe it, it’s as if V. Putin woke up one day and said: “hmm, generals, I thing I’d like to attack Ukraine today. Who does that? Oh wait, mirror mirror on the wall... The U. S. In Iraq, etc. As long as it’s not in our back yard, we will support any war as long as we think it’s morally right.

The question is: What do you believe would happen if a similar scenario unfolded in Mexico? Please take off your blinders and just speak the truth without hyperbole. You can have your opinion but when you share information with the world, perhaps you could take all these discussions into consideration and stop using the word “unprovoked” every time you reference the war in Ukraine.

I know you to be honest and forthright. If you consider all of the history of this conflict, our own role in it and, maybe, just maybe you will start using a more nuanced and truthful approach.
