Douglas Murray wrote an article in the Spectator says 'Sometimes a flare goes up, and you see exactly where everyone is.' Those of us who have known things are bad suddenly realised that things unimaginably dreadful. Any intellectual or moral substance to the nonsense that is being churned out by the DEI machines, the ever so sensitive thought leaders and the 'activist' class is revealed to be worthless crap (excuse the term).

I have felt this way since I was called a N*zi bigot for saying that male bodies don't belong in women and girls' safe spaces. I'm a lifelong liberal but wasn't sure where I fit anymore. I'm not a conservative, a Trumper, and Biden bought into it. I like RFK Jr, but can't say that aloud because my liberal friends will mock and disown me.

Weird time to be a liberal who thinks critically.

The EEOC recently proposed an expansion of workplace harassment to include mid-gendering and not allowing employees to use the bathroom aligned with their gender identity. It’s still in comment period, but women’s rights will not be safe under the Biden Administration. Abortion now a state issue, but I’d suggest the women out there stop pretending it’s the most important issue. Left Wing Authoritarianism has done some serious damage to our freedoms and captured the institutions that used to fight for us.

Misogyny is rampant on the left and the so-called progressive feminists play right along.

The liberal feminists, or "lib fems," or "3rd wave feminists" are more supportive of trans women than actual women and are also big fans of porn and prostitution, aka "sex work."

Those feminists like myself who believe you can't change your sex and prostitution is harmful generally are described as "2nd wave" or "radical fems," although I don't agree with a lot of the male bashing in that ideology. But I'm certainly not a "lib fem."

Nancy, I agree. But I rejected referring to myself as a feminist years ago when it turned away from female empowerment and into male bashing. I committed the ultimate sin of deciding to leave my business career for the career of full-time motherhood.

And as a feminist, I should and do support every woman's decision. That's where feminism went off the rails.

I would say those who today are moderate/conservative are what used to be considered liberal.

Evolutionary biologist Colin Wright created a famous cartoon about exactly this phenomenon; it became famous when Elon Musk re-tweeted it (long before he bought Twitter). I have a signed copy in my kitchen, which makes me feel like I’m not alone in this.

Nancy, we must stand together and not be afraid to be "mocked and disowned". Who wants to be "owned" by anyone so mindlessly blind to the damage that is being done in the name of "compassion." I'm not in your RFK camp but I tremendously respect your stepping away from the mass lunacy.

Maybe you don’t need to belong to a political tribe.. I think of both of them as a bit like old time churches “pray, pay and obey” without the prayer part. You will never be asked your opinion on an issue by your party, you are just supposed to follow. And a party’s line-up on issues doesn’t actually make sense sometimes in efforts to reward friends and punish enemies.. for example “we need to have less impact on the environment” and “we should bring in lots more people!”. Let’s face it, both parties tend to be incongruous conglomerations of shifting policy preferences. Welcome to the world of independents!

Well, I'm not sure I can afford to lose my job at this point in life. I'm in a very "woke" field which makes me, a liberal, look like I'm out of touch with everything!

I'm in education. Where I work is very far Left and I'd be called in for saying "No men in women's sports."

Sending some sympathy your way Nancy. I, too, would have been considered very liberal in the 90's - today I would be labeled extreme right wing. You will be liberated in more ways than one when you can retire!

I cannot imagine what that is like. But I fear we are all heading there.
