I will dare to add— in spite of the good liberal seculars throughout this forum, much love to you— I will take all the steps forward and add, it is fundamentally satanic.

Because we think, here in the vaunted West, the pinnacle of human civilization, that we can exist without addressing our God, our Creator. We are finding, when we drain our sand castle of the water that holds it together— God, try to replace our natural instinctive yearning for God, for our parents, for our ancestral identity, for love, with our own ideas— that we become barbarians all over again, as the Soviets did, the Maoists did.

Right now we are living on the *fumes* of the force that made Western Civilization possible. What Kiano needs, desperately, whether he knows it or not (and how many of us really always know what is good for us? Or always choose the Good?) in a society which despises and rejects Him, is to recognize that God is love (as a 2000-year-old intuitive, inspired writer named John revealed to us), and God loves HIM, Kiano….

Kiano needs us, God needs US, you and me, to bring His LOVE to him! There is no other answer. The Beatles said it right, All you need is love, but they didn’t quite get where that Love ultimately is sourced from. Please join me in praying for Kiano. Many of us here can testify to death of miracles that changed a hopeless, painful life.

(I know this is very simple and I’m trying to express a 2000-year-old ultra-complex discovery of the relationship of God with humanity in one little post…bear with me please)

We all have our opinions, Invisible Friends.

I always thought the seeds of ‘Western Civilization’ came from The Enlightenment. But that’s just me..

Your (Christian, I assume) God may not be your neighbour’s God. But that does not mean he or she is any less an American.

And your neighbour may believe in no Creator, but that does not make that person any less human. He or she will most probably still help you in time of need. The belief in a God has no monopoly on compassion.

Belief in a God does not make a country great.

Belief in ourselves does.

Belief in self is the seed that births the egotistical monster in all people. It is that monster that has created misery for humanity. The ego is an insatiable soul eating terror. "Belief in self" is the heart of breaking the First Commandment. It is almost as of God knew. Without humility, all people are monsters. Every one. An for takes humility to recognize that.

Expand full comment
Lee Morris's avatar

I look at it from another angle. I personally believe that the ego as you describe it stems from insecurity, not self belief - that is, a person's ego and self worth must be reinforced by the interaction of that person with others (Trump's narcissism and Putin's aggressiveness comes to mind). A truly self confident person will not need to enforce his or her ego onto others at the others' expense - that is, in a manner that tries to shore up their own poor self image.

Isn't being humble a signal that you are strong enough within to look at yourself objectively?

She Has Invisible Friends's avatar

I appreciate your thoughts here, Lee, but the institutions’ development that make Western Civilization great— hospitals, universities, social services, civic institutions, science, philosophy, democratic ideals, *collectively*— preexisted the Enlightenment.

I don’t think I said anything about whether or not a person’s belief makes him or her American or less human… But my theory is, that that guy will “most probably still help you” in time of need only because *our society has been formed* from the man who,

…two thousand years ago, performed miraculous healings and forgave sins and transformed lives but died on a cross at the hands of an enraged mob galled on by jealous leaders, and revolutionized part of the world and scandalized the rest when He preached, “Love your enemies…pray for those who persecute you…forgive your brother seventy times seven.”

But He preached, “LOVE GOD” first. We like to forget that. Enjoy the fruits of Christianity but not all the responsibilities. (And ftr, millions of His friends since then have died excruciatingly torturous deaths rather than deny He rose from death.)

Imagine if you lived in a country where somehow, every single person *LOVED* God and each other like Mother Teresa. (Who did not proselytize, btw.)

“Belief in a god does not make a country great”…

…it entirely depends on *which god* that country believes in (for its foundational principles).

*And* your def of greatness.

*AND* how many humans in that country adhere to the beliefs of that god/God.

Belief in ourselves is nice until you have reached your own absolute limitations of control.

It's the sterility of capitalist objectivity concerning throw away labor. Minimal to no human investment and the belief that people are merely interchangeable parts serving the means to an end. Profit. All meaningful human need and relationship, education, life, liberty, happiness, community, church and family threaten production. Of course, we are living in a rigged game.

Bad economic and social policy causes human trauma and damage. We all bear witness every day. The main trick of the narcissist (vampire) is to feed on and destroy the life and well being of its prey while blaming the victim for the evil of the reality. As many are experiencing today, it is impossible to remain sane when living inside a lie.

We live in the power shadow of avaricious world capital which is using the false moral light of Marxist ideological utopianism to cover its darkness. It has compromised and controls political systems and elected political leadership. Its narcissism can and will rationalize any atrocity. Unproductive "eaters", traumatized and damaged, unable to survive the inhuman destruction of Western Civilization need to be eliminated.

I don't believe that people lived in some wondrous state prior to capitalism. The truth that we can read and learn from authors from ancient Greece onwards tells me that our basic nature, despite huge cultural shifts through the millennia, remains the same. Asserting avarice is a wider ill ignores King Midas. Narcissism as a current ill ignores Narcissus. And seeing capitalism as horrific ignores that it has led to vastly increased wealth for most of the world's population. Wealth equates to less hunger, better housing, and longer lives by reason of sanitation and health care.

I have no problem with capitalism, business or enterprise. I do have a problem with a rigged game and the compromise of elected political leadership. The willful destruction of industry and the looting of economies at the expense of the lives and futures of the people living inside them is criminal. Making a fortune may make one an economic winner but it doesn't make one king.

The road to hell is paved with....good intentions.

From C. S. Lewis:

Let us not be deceived by phrases about ‘Man taking charge of his own destiny.’ All that can really happen is that some men will take charge of the destiny of others. . . . The more completely we are planned the more powerful they will be.

. . . .

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. Their very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be ‘cured’ against one’s will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.

I understand what you’re saying. I remember the early days of sex education, very controversial at the time, being sold as “just helping prevent pregnancies.”

Now the slope has slipped to all kinds of heretofore bizarre practices.

Another; foreign aid, government and private programs sounded so reasonable but yet, the funds were mostly stolen leaving us with the current “migrant” crisis, worldwide.

Remember NAFTA and “if we employ them there they’re less likely to come here?”

Those good intentions ended with the current flood of humans crashing our border and created the fast pass expressway for fentanyl, and other “commodities,” to flood our country.

Then, there’s “welfare” and so many well intentioned programs too numerous to mention.

The problems always seem to come down to liars, thieves, criminals, smelling the easy money and counting on or, creating, a distracted electorate seemingly disinterested in trying to fix things.

If a society goes down the path of murdering late term babies & even considering after birth abortion, it was only a matter of time before we went down this slippery slope. Pretty soon anyone who is deemed not to be a productive member of society will be dispensable. This is man’s inhumanity to man carried to an extreme.

The liberal elite certainly prefer perceiving themselves as smarter than others to saving people's lives. Ivermectin not only worked in quite a few studies from other countries, it even worked in an NIH study published in June. Yes, the NIH ran a study on ivermectin at Duke and Vanderbilt, and yes, it showed statistically significant efficacy, and yes, they still buried it.

Efficacy was significant reduction in "mean time unwell", saving 0.5 days of sick time across all groups. Also showed a benefit in patients with severe symptoms, faster symptom resolution with an odds ratio of 1.79 (1.06 to 3.04).

This all despite the study being a weird study where they enrolled you online and mailed you the drug, so people didn't even start drug until day 6 of symptoms, even though other drugs are usually started earlier. Paxlovid, for example, must be started by day 5 to be efficacious. Tamiflu must be started within 48 hours of flu symptoms. Also, people on this study only got drug for 3 days. A bit of a weak study design. https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2022.06.10.22276252v1

Seeing as we don't have a new topic, I'll post these two links.

The ever senile Biden and his hand puppet vice president Harris tell us the border is secur. How do they and the Dem lemmings on the BBS explain this:

The next link is an example of the tyranny of the left. I find this topic disgusting and wonder how the left justifies this. Watch the video. I call this the gender NAZIs:

When I think about the demons that must haunt those “death-cafes”—inviting the vulnerable to a “solution” they can never recant, while never taking part themselves. Demons can come in human form, indeed. God help us all.
