To be clear, I am indebted to Bari Weiss and her journalism, and I have felt this way for 3 years. I could start crying if I talk about what this particular independent outfit has meant to me. I think she does great when she - and to a lesser extent her proxies - interviews guests one on one. She pushes back, she asks hard questions, she does her research, she doesn't let people get away with things, and she does it all without fighting or creating more animosity or "us vs them" thinking. I didn't see that kind of journalism with this episode. This was more like a fluff piece where people were allowed to just go on and on without providing data. Which I think is fine, there can totally be a space for that, but maybe just create a different avenue for that that isn't Honestly. For me, it waters down the amazing thing that Honestly has created, and what it has always meant to me - a beacon of reason and sanity in a world that is so often uncertain and scary. As a mom, this episode made me feel more scared rather than less, more afraid of "them" and less hopeful that I can navigate my way through the murky waters. If I can't even use my microwave, I'm sunk, you know? I think it would be wise for your whole team to ask "what were we trying to accomplish with this episode?" And "did we get there?"

I also wonder what Batya Ungar Sargon would say about this episode. She always defends the working class. This episode smacks a little of "luxury beliefs" - not that I disagree about Big Food and Big Pharma being a problem, but average Americans don't have the time, money or resources to make most of the changes recommended here. I also wonder whether Bari was pulling a bit of a Matt Walsh by letting these 3 sort of expose themselves by letting them go on and on unchecked and unscripted. Interesting.

I voted for Trump in a blue state, as a former Democrat. I like RFK, I hope he gets confirmed. I don't have a particular beef with hearing from these individuals, I just would have rather felt that Bari was helping to navigate all this information more effectively.
