What should we do about Elon Musk? Should we nationalize his companies? Force him in reeducation camp, so we correct his wrong think?
For me Elon Musk has wielded his power much better than many other billionaires, he is not running sham foundations and pushing his medical ideas to us (Bill Gates), he is not pushing his BS political ideology to rest of us (George Soros), he is paying his employees well and forcing them to pee in bags and bottles (Jeff Bezos), he is not spying on us (Mark Zuckerberg), he was not patronizing Epstein's "love" island (Leon David Black)
From all billionaires Elon is the most normal one, sure his is excentric but by no mean some evil genius who is trying to push his own BS to rest of us.
Elons only crime is that he doesnt fund nether Democrats nor Republicans, and our politicians can't forgive him that.
Well I can. He’s done nothing that requires forgiveness and has been a voice of reason in a world gone guano. I guess he’s despised by the cretans he’s exposed but it’s not like the general populace had no idea.
The leftist tyrants have hijacked too much power with obscene wealth and I’m grateful that some one with like resources has been willing to just NOT attempt to coerce society into groupthink and even return some of that stolen power. The right to free speech is a two way street or it’s not free at all.
I stand in support of Israel yet I don’t hold it against Mr Musk to extend his hand to the (true occupiers) the so called Palestinians. They are the descendants of Sephardic Arab people who were not given sanctuary by any of the Arab nations upon the reestablishment of Israel. It was a setup from the beginning to create what has become unceasing grievance and a poor excuse to attack the Israelis.
And attack they have, many times.
They have refused every offer to come to a diplomatic solution. Not because the terms were overly harsh or unfair, but because they have NO desire to make peace.
Hamas and Hezbollah are not rational or generally reasonable ppl. I don’t think that every “Palestinian” is evil but their leadership is. Muslim communities around the world outside of the Middle East should condemn all terrorist attacks. Why have they not? Let them answer if they dare.
I am of Irish descent almost exclusively but I remember the terrorist attacks by the IRA. My mother had relatives killed by British forces yet she vehemently condemned terrorism.
It is disingenuous to say that Netanyahu supported Islamist terrorists. Biden actually did when his admin left millions of taxpayer funded military equipment for the Taliban to play with. Brilliant maneuver. Go Joe, so proud. 13 fell while their leaders became state sponsors of terrorism. It didn’t have to happen that way but hey, we were careful to use the right pronouns so it’s all good.
Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as "bad luck.”
I am with Raziel. Another hit piece on Elon because he is not your run of the mill billionaire spending his money to advance lefts causes like Zuckerberg. Why do we not see articles asking if Larry Page and/or Sundar Picha have too much power withe their 60+% control of all internet searches in the world. And who said they are not biased or controlled results. Google probably has more information on all of us than the NSA. (Don't you get tired of how Google wants you to instal Crome?) What about YouTub and their restrictions on content that matches their world beliefs. Then you have Zuckerberg with his millions, meddling to local elections, controlling the content on Facebook and Instagram. As Raziel pointed out, we have Bill Gates who probably contributed materially to the harms of the mRNA vaccine
Can i give you three stars for your above post? They can't stand him because he is not the government and the government can still do no wrong in their lights even though it be run during the last four administrations by a sexual predator, race hustler, crazy narcissist, and dementia wracked mendacious grifter.
He absolutely is spying on us. It's all in X's privacy policy.
That said, I don't have Elon Derangement Syndrome like everyone on the Left. And yes he has exercised great restraint given the power he has and he doesn't get enough credit for it. Instead left media likes to paint him as dangerous or a pariah because he's not one of them.
For now, yes, X's user base is a lot smaller. But his plan is to expand it by a lot and make it all ecompassing like WeChat. He might very well fail. But it's false to say he's not spying on us. The invasion of privacy is huge to anyone who signs up and uses X.
If you're not paying for something, you're what's being sold. I don't have any particular problem with Fakebook or Twadder selling the info that the glean from my use. As with most, I think the issue is that Fuckerburg wanted his cake (protection under 1996's Telecommunications act) but also to act as an arbiter of what is said on his platform (censoring conservatives).
Of course they are; not to mention Google (in spades), Apple, Amazon, and a host of others. Some are more difficult to avoid than others.... but (silly me) I was responding to the subject at hand.
Forget that Musk embarrassed the Military Industrial Complex by creating a company that could AFORDABLY send satellites and astronauts into space or that he exposed the collusion between our government and OTHER tech billionaires in censoring Americans, Bari thinks he has too much power. Instead of being just another billionaire toady, apparently with just the right amount of power, he has refused to sell his soul to the deep state and now he is paying the price. I didn't listen to the audio but i doubt there was any discussion of Biden’s JustUs Department suing SpaceX for Discriminating Against Asylees or his SEC is suing to force Musk to testify over his purchase of Twitter. None of that seems to concern Bari, apparently the government is entitled to all the power it needs to destroy anyone that threatens their control. What does seem to concern her is that Musk has tossed around the idea of providing Palestinians Wi-Fi, which seems a curious position for someone espousing The Free Press. I mean, why wouldn’t she want them to have an alternative information source to hate filled Islamist propaganda? Yet another question she and Walter Isaacson ignored.
I don’t think we’ll ever see another person in our lifetime who has accomplished what Elon has. I listened to the audio. Yes, he can be a meany at work. Show me anyone who truly accomplished seemingly impossible things and they’re never warm and fuzzy. He’s a complicated man but one of the most interesting people alive today.
If you're a free speech absolutist, you believe they should have the choice. What they do with that opportunity is up to them. If you're a free speech censor, or a Hamas propagandist you deny them that choice. Which side are you on?
Well, I would normally agree with you about the issue of free speech in general, in this case, Wi-Fi is not just “Wi-Fi”. I’m no expert in military strategy and operations, but I believe the idea behind cutting Gaza off Wi-Fi was to minimize their ability to organize militarily.
Israel has some of the best hackers in the world. Part of the reason for our success in places like Midway during WWII was that we broke the Japanese codes and knew exactly what they were planning. I’m not a techie but I suspect hacking Wi-Fi is exponentially easier.
Timothy, I wish you were my neighbor so that we could sit around and solve the problems of the world. And judging from your name I would guess Hawaii? If you live THERE then I wouldn't mind moving!
You didn't answer my question! As for "free speech", that is an AMERICAN thing that prevents GOVERNMENT from restricting it. What Elon does, or doesn't do, in a foreign country is irrelevant. Just as in the NFL, the employer has a legal right to dictate terms of allowable speech.
From what I read he walked back giving blanket service to Gaza and agreed to run it by Israeli authorities first. Personally I think the population of Gaza supports Hamas for the most part but not exclusively. There are even some Christians left there. All of the people there are at the mercy of the Israeli government. Justifiably so but still at its mercy. And the longer they suffer the more hay Hamas will make of it.
Utopian ideals are most often disappointed. Most Palestinians are for Israel being eliminated. THAT is their version of "a better life". It is what they have been brainwashed into believing since Hamas took over. Try looking at the videos and articles on www.memri.org to see what they teach in schools and mosques. They are NOT just like you and I who have a history of "the good life".
Just my opinion, mind you, but unless the Gazans turn against Hamas themselves there will be no change, just more misery. And since Hamas is completely embedded into the population, using them as shields to accomplish their goal of "From the river to the sea", I am afraid that the average Palestinian MUST be completely humiliated and humbled before they will relent. Unfortunately, it is like advanced cancer treatment where the subject is brought close to death in order to cure the disease. I sincerely wish that it were not so, but I just see no other way. Again, this is just MY opinion as an average follower of the area since 1968. Thank you for being reasonable in your questions and responses. I really hope that I am wrong.

Elon mostly ended Twitter as a tool for the DNC to push: gender-agenda, DEI, Ukraine war, Russia is bad, China is bad, suppression of news
Notice, Bari and Oliver that you are mad at Elon when YOU, Bari, are making your mark fighting the same problem!
This is all about X. This is ONLY about X. Come on, Bari & Oliver. This is just your revenant "gotta git dem" leftism gasping...

Is "spying" not inherent in the technology?
If you're not paying for something, you're what's being sold. I don't have any particular problem with Fakebook or Twadder selling the info that the glean from my use. Last I heard, one is still free to sign up for and/or use X. Or choose not to do so.
The same can be said about Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok too then. Does that also mean Zuckerberg and China is not infringing on people's privacy?
Of course they are; not to mention Google (in spades), Apple, Amazon, and a host of others. Some are more difficult to avoid than others.... but (silly me) I was responding to the subject at hand.

If they DID have internet access, do you really think that they would use it to seek out WESTERN information, or Hamas influence agitprop?
If you're a free speech absolutist, you believe they should have the choice. What they do with that opportunity is up to them. If you're a free speech censor, or a Hamas propagandist you deny them that choice. Which side are you on?

It doesn't matter. The information and access is what should be available. How people use it is up to them.
Not if it enhances Hamas' operations against Israel! You may not have considered that Hamas would be one of the beneficiaries of Musk's benevolence.
From what I read he walked back giving blanket service to Gaza and agreed to run it by Israeli authorities first. "do you really think that they would use it to seek out WESTERN information or Hamas influence agitprop?"
Since they already have access to Hamas influence agitprop, I'm going with WESTERN information.
So, you are banking on the average Gazan to go against two to three generations of brainwashing? The "better angels of their nature"?
I'm banking on their desire for a better life and access to ideas an proposals that might provide it.
Utopian ideals are most often disappointed. Most Palestinians are for Israel being eliminated. THAT is their version of "a better life". You could make the same argument for the little darlings praising Hamas on our campuses. So what's your solution?
Send the little sh@ts to Gaza.
