“The identitarian right wonders aloud why America should absorb the Afghan interpreters who helped us prosecute a 20-year-war in their country.”
Excuse me?!
I am aware of no credible or authoritative source (right or left) advocating that we abandon interpreters and other Afghans who aided us or our NATO allies.
This is an effort to create moral equivalency out of thin air and it fails miserably.

Thanks, I'm glad I'm not the only one who tripped over that. I think he's confusing it with some pundits on the right who are questioning whether we should let EVERY Afghan person in, not just those who helped in the effort, the point being that we have no way of vetting them and the possibility they are radicalized and dangerous.
Agreed. I think a couple (and I mean two) wonks signed an open latter cautioning about floodgate SIV approvals. Reasonable for the reason you stated. Further, that letter in no way suggested we should abandon those who assisted us and our allies. It was a very stupid line in an otherwise mostly serious and mostly on point article.

My thoughts exactly.
