If it's an open convention in Chicago, count on several hundred delegates to float the name Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. He is (at least was, but everyone knows he still is) a lifelong Democrat. An icon. A truth teller. Someone the Dem Party power brokers now hate but who deserves a hearing.

I am not arguing that Kennedy could win the party's nomination, but that there will inevitably be hundreds of delegates who are pissed off at the party elites for leading them astray, for lying to them, for stomping on the democratic nominating process, for lashing out at a Kennedy (even in name only and thus degrading a family institution), and for Joe Biden's inexplicable and downright evil refusal to give Mr. Kennedy Secret Service protection. These would be the rogue delegates, making a point, and it would make the convention an even crazier event that it already is lining up to be.

For those that argue, but Trump had many policy successes. Most of those were because Trump is lazy and he had some good people around him. The judges came off a list prepared by the Federalist Society and vetted by McConnell. Do you think a man who brags about not reading newspapers actually read their CV's? As for foreign policy, the bad actors in the world are not afraid of Biden and that is a problem. However, their fear of Trump was based on how erratic he is. They had no idea how he might react. He might call for the nuclear football if Putin dissed the decor in Mar A Lago. We need a strong principled leader on the world stage and right now there isn't one running.

So then let’s take the one that had a successful administration. If you’re not sure, that’s the guy that was in Home Alone.

I know what you mean, Howsit, I doubt I was the only one crying during the debate. I just kept wondering how those who claim to love and respect Joe Biden could let him go out there and be self-humiliated the way he was, and, of course, the news on all sides just cannot help pointing it out over and over again. It seems the whole country is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Things may be interesting and exciting but they are in no way calm and reassuring. We have but our proven resilience on which to depend. Me? I'm praying for a miracle.

Jill Biden needs to be prosecuted for Elder Abuse. She's dragged that poor shell of a man through hell. However, we need her to drag him around for a few more months, in order to insure Trump's victory. Not that Trump is the answer to all that ills this country, he's just the only alternative.

Really weird that neither Nocera’s long list of contenders, nor most other commentators’, mention one OBVIOUS contender — the Democratic Representative who actually stuck his neck out, risked his career, ran in the primaries against Biden, and got the second most votes and delegates— Dean Phillips. As far as I can tell, he’s the only contender with the courage and sense for the job; all the others are just run-of-the-mill scheming lemmings.

These guys both say the media hid Biden’s mental deterioration? Every sentient human could see it if they looked. Tell me why they lie and you are just noticing. This is MSNBC lite.

Running mates going to matter. Trump must pick Nikki Haley.

Harris could win, I suppose, if she had Michelle Obama or Taylor Swift as Veep. 🤷🏼‍♀️

All other arguments for and against biden dropping out aside, I'm not sure how I feel about people who keep floating Josh Shapiro as a possible democratic presidential candidate. I think we all know that given the antisemitic attitude that permeates their party, there's no way Mr. Shapiro, or any Jew, would get the nomination. So that leaves me with a distasteful notion that his name is floated as a known false narrative that the dems are not antisemitic. Recent history proves otherwise. For the record, I write this as a sad and frightened Jew.

I respectfully suggest you get over your fright and speak up. Cowering in silence only leads to one outcome.

KH has been relaunched so many times, she’s starting to look like a space x falcon rocket. She just can’t stick the landing and repeatedly goes up in flames when she totters over. Save us all from that hot mess.

Zzzzzz...

Now we know why things are this bad. Joe and Eli are the cream of the crop...

Both were very myopic and uninspiring arguments, and neither really made a strong case. I have to give a slight edge to Nocera.

Biden looks, and acts like a marionette from "Team America".

Expand full comment

Erroneous! The Team America puppets all ar least knew what it means to be a man; Joe Biden simply learned about being a man from watching spaghetti westerns.

Those marionettes acted a hell of a lot better than ol’ poopy-pants ever has.

Why should Kamala Harris have revealed the “secret” that Biden is slipping? It’s seems odd to fault her of all people for that. Biden’s wife and campaign advisers are culpable.

Expand full comment

They’re all culpable, but Kamala is the only one who took this oath.

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”

She has not faithfully discharged the duties of her office, the most important one being to invoke the 25th Amendment should the President be unable to fulfill his responsibilities.

There is no possible way she has been unaware of his mental decline. She lacks the courage to do the difficult, but honorable thing, the right thing for the sake of our country.

She has placed personal ambition and party loyalty above patriotism.

She, and everyone who had any part of this dangerous, deceitful charade should resign immediately, but there doesn’t appear to be any honest, moral person in the entire administration.

Biden's wife and campaign advisers are not duly elected public servants who took an oath to fulfill their public duty. VP Harris is a duly elected public servant.

From 2017 to 2020, we experienced the Progressive Age of “we’re all radical FREEDOM FIGHTERS who are actually saving democracy itself from the tyrannical rule of a representative government that was duly elected by the common man!” And “RESISTANCE is PATRIOTIC and should never be punished by the State!”

Then from 2021 to 2024, we experienced the Progressive Age of “only delusional TRAITORS think they are actually saving democracy itself from what they say is the ‘tyrannical rule’ of a representative government that was duly elected by the common man.” And “RESISTANCE is FUTILE and every act should be punished to the ends of the law by the State!”

In addition to this contradictory insanity, these same progressives sold America a lemon in 2020 with their crazy uncle-in-the-attic Joe Biden. And for the past four years they tried to pawn off the same rusted bucket of bolts, up until we all witnessed Joe’s substantial mental and cognitive brain-slush shutdown on live TV.

After all of this, what do progressives declare to the nation? “Trust me!” as they select a ‘new and improved’ Joe Biden to replace (in their words) their ‘perfect’ current Joe Biden.

Progressives really do seem to emulate those late-night infomercial hosts on TV that everyone makes fun of for being so laughably out of touch.

“But wait, there’s more! ….”

True. And if Trump wins again they will switch back OVERNIGHT to “the noble resistance” with full media support.

Watch it. Even though she has said no. Michelle Obama will run with Biden as her VP. She’ll end up running and then bow out shortly after taking office. Handing the presidency back over to Joe. If that happens, I’m buying a crystal ball and getting a 900 number.
