What's going on with Louisiana? Lara Bazelon's article is deeply troubling, but also ironic. Hasn't New Orleans and its environs been governed by Democrats -- many of them black -- for as long as anyone can remember? I do not doubt Ms Bazelon's account, but it points to a much deeper problem than persistent Ol' South racism, though it certainly highlights that. Perhaps those entrenched attitudes are really more cultural than racial. "Foundational" racism? What does that even mean? "Beto" O'Rourke coined that term during last year's election cycle and we still have no idea.

And she doesn't state whether or not her client possessed this fun legally or illegally. That's salient to the argument. The law is crazy but that doesn't speak to whether or not her client was engaging in criminal activity. And it was Bill Clinton who did three strikes....another Dem. And we could go on about Biden's senatorial history too.

Many inner cities are also run by Democrats, a number entirely staffed by blacks. Most cultural institutions are controlled by the libs as well - the media, arts, universities & colleges, Hollywood - the nation's cultural life is dominated by liberals and have they perpetuated a system of 'systemic racism' ?? (if it in fact exists). Go downtown to the art galleries in New York - one would scarcely find a black about. Thelma Golding, a black curator does fabulous work in her sphere but she's an oddity, a token. One of my closest friends has been a dealer for over 30 years, a screaming liberal yet I have never known her to hire a black; She suggested to me that I read Ta-nihisi Coates work, virtue signaling between every sip of delicious white wine. #Nauseating. #EnoughAlready
