Matt Pottinger on how to handle the Iranian regime.
At some point actions have consequences. The Obama decision to normalize Iran through appeasement and shackle Israel has been an absolute disaster. Trump actually reversed this which was by far the best thing he did. Biden reinstated it. Now it's blown up in his face and I doubt he or his team has the intellectual nimbleness to reverse this. Pray the Israelis, in the face of world wide condemnation has the strength to prevail.
The unstated issue is manpower. Watching these idiots on college campuses, I’m afraid we as a country lack the courage and moral fortitude to engage in any war.
Iran is the root cause of trouble in this region. Anything other than dealing with them directly is simply Euro style kicking of the can down the road. Sometimes it really is simple.
The knee jerk reaction to counter everything Trump did with the opposite for political gain is a disaster for the world. The Dems need to grow the eff up and start acting like Statesmen and not mean girls for awhile.
If Iran is the snake, Obama is the snake charmer. What an absolute idiot. Every disaster we’re living with now is downstream of Obama, Biden, and the Leftist idiots.
Thank you. Such a helpful perspective. I guess this is where "wokeism" really causes harm. Shut down oil production in America, so it has to be purchased from somewhere, Iran I guess. The money flows and the menace re-emerges.
I agree 1000% on Obama’s foolish attempt of appeasing Iran with JCPOA.
This is an excellent article on an important perspective; thank you.
Most of the answers appealed acceptance to my pragmatic side however if we ever consider arming Iranians to take down their government we must remember how Taliban was created when we helped Afghans fight back against USSR and learn from the fact that we're still dealing with that cancer 40+ years later.
Jake Sullivan's print essay in Foreign Affairs will go down in history as a blunder in the same vein as, but hopefully not as devastating as, Neville Chamberlain's "Peace for our time".
Great write up!
biden has never been on the right side of foreign policy. biden has never successful prosecuted any armed conflict, he has even remotely been involved. The two facts that need to be known to understand where this heading.
When GAZA was first established in 1948 it had a population of 200,000 people. That number has doubled every 20 years since then, reaching 2,300,000 in 2022.
1968 – 400,000
1988 – 800,000
2008 – 1,600,000
2028 – 3,200,000 (projected)
If the land area of GAZA were to be doubled next week, 20 years from now the population density would be the same as it is today.
• The number of Christians in the Middle East is 10 percent of what it was a century ago.
• India and Pakistan were partitioned in 1948.
• China maintains re-education camps for its Muslim Urghur population.
• France has numerous Muslim-only No Go Zones, where even police cannot enter without a well-armed escort. The next step will be full Apartheid.
• Toronto is home to North America’s largest Muslim population, and they openly protest in support of Hamas and more Terror.
This is not uniquely an Israeli problem. Can you see where things are headed?
National wealth is very closely linked to a country’s average IQ scores. Google ‘Average IQ by Country’ and note how many of the scores for Islamic countries are 83 or less. The Palestinians do not need to have more children, they need to have smarter children.
I like your phrase "intellectual nimbleness" a good euphemism, we all know what it really means
I remember as a college student the hostage crisis in Iran that went on for 444 days from 1979-1981. We college students were furious that the Iranians would do this. Some students hung a sign outside the dorm saying "Nuke Iran". Perhaps inappropriate, but this is how angry we were.
Obama, not Trump, started the pivot to east Asia. He pooh poohed Romney's suggestion that Russia was a threat (another aspect copied by Trump).
