Amen. BUT will there be consequences and accountability for all those who have broken laws and perhaps more importantly all who have broken our trust in our institutions. I hope Bari and team will get into the recent spinathon as James Clapper tries to wiggle out of his ( and his cohorts' culpability regarding Russian laptop disinformation). Parts of the MSM are running interference for him right now. Let's hope this does not get swept under that giant rug that they use in DC to hide the dirt (and the truth).
Bari Weiss is an adult, not a "girl". She is certainly worldly, well travelled, and seems to have a large network of intellectuals or would-be intellectuals she connects with and could learn from. She does not need a break. She certainly does need critique and pushback else she is just like some of the folks she rails against.
Weiss worked very happily as an editor at the NYT. Opinion editor. Ya think she got that job because the Times folks thought she was balanced or, god forbid, leaning Right. She departed in a now famous way for which she is justly praised. But if you think tigers change their stripes, you really have not been paying attention.
Bari's greatest blind spot is in Zionism and antisemitism. That blindness was on display in the Burns interview. She sees no nuance - it is all black and white to her. So, Republican and conservatives really are racists, akin to anti-semites, etc. She's obviously not a journalist as one skilled in journalism would have pushed back on Burns' many idiotic claims and slurs against many, many Americans. Her blindness affects her thinking, alas, I fear she fails to challenge idiots like Burns because she, deep in her being, believes that could undercut her beliefs and positions on Zionism and antisemitism. Meanwhile many other folks support Israel, view antisemitism as evil, accept even if they do not fully embrace Zionism, but are not blind to the power of those on the left that employ the tactics of Burns. Bari is not one of them.
Not what I'm saying. I criticized her too when she did the interview. I haven't seen her do another interview doing the same thing, did I miss it? I'm probably to the right of everything she believes and says so I get it. But criticizing just to criticize does no good.
Of course she's not a "girl." I was speaking colloquially. And I was definitely not happy with her fawning over the despicable Burns. Or her tacit agreement with him on the Biden mantra of white supremacist terrorists. Which, is, of course, not only false but also idiotic. But I would also give her praise for the great job she's done with this publication.
Bari’s interview of Ken Burns wasn’t her best but I’ve no doubt she’s listened to the criticism and will do better. Her interview skills in my view are outstanding and I always learn something from her and the interesting people she introduces us to. Thanks Bari

That is the $32,000,000,000,000 question. Will there be consequences?
I fear not.
Same here.
I doubt it. Bari is too busy supporting and fawning over folks like Ken Burns.
That’s a true post today!
That was not her finest hour. But give the girl a break - she's coming along. And the Free Press is light years better than her former employer.
It's okay, Bruce. I know of 'worldly' girls..

So let's just burn her at the stake too.
Sure, why should anyone in media have to contend with criticism?

I'd give you a half a 👍 for that BM!
Hmmm....with the "BM" reference color me dubious.....
Lol!

"I’ve no doubt she’s listened to the criticism and will do better. "
I will not hold my breath, albeit I will keep an open mind.
So stop reading.
Oh, please. Why?
