The correct information was out within days if not hours. And not just by the journalists you mention. That’s why so many people were so frustrated all along. The correct information was out within days if not hours. And not just by the journalists you mention. That’s why so many people were so frustrated all along. Yes, I’m glad left off center people had their eyes opened at the trial. But it was there all the time. And there are many communities where kids learn to hunt and shoot at an early age. In my state there are courses and camps for kids. A visceral opposition to open carry is generally from people in blue states who think guns somehow do the shooting, just like it’s SUVs that kill people. Gun safety (something the prosecutor in this trial was shockingly ignorant of) is taught to any kid in a house with weapons as a matter of course. Photos of Rittenhouse from the night show him with proper trigger discipline, which he was obviously taught and absorbed.
I don't have a problem with hunters, but I don't like a guy in camo walking into the Carl's Jr. with an assault rifle when I'm eating lunch with my kids. I don't feel comfortable with guys carrying pistols strapped to their waists or legs in the grocery store.
If I'm blunt, I don't feel comfortable with men carrying at all. I'll get roasted for this by both sides, but in the tiny empire I rule in my mind, men would be forbidden from carrying AT ALL and women would be required to own one handgun and one longarm. A girl turns 15, and she gets her first handgun -- i.e. here's your first sidearm Jessica, do you want the BTS or the Barbie skin on that, sweetie? Nobody likes that idea, but in a world where well over 90% of violent crime is male, you can be damned sure it'd work.
I am an old woman. I don't want any guns. The area I live in is full of guns. There's a big illegal, cash economy. At this point the people with guns primarily shoot other people with guns. Most people shoot family, friends and business partners. I feel safer without them.
I oppose open carry because it tells the bad guys who they need to target first. Carrying concealed provides the better defense against bad guys, since they know that *some* people are probably carrying, they just don't know who; but carrying openly gives the bad guys the advantage.
Open carry, to me, seems to be an ego thing. "Look at me" and all.
In the context of protecting property from rioters, open carrying rifles on the roof and side by side in a group on the property is more effective as a deterrent than holstered, concealed pistols. Visible weapons prevented violent attacks. Other than mental patient Roseybottom, the other rioters had enough sense not to push their luck there.
I did a concealed carry class but never got my permit because we moved out of the country unexpectedly. But our state is friendly to concealed (with training and permit) and open carry. A lot of the open carry people are former military - we also have a lot of bases and a lot of servicemen who stay or come back when they get out.
Precisely. I hope the judge admonishes (whatever that means/looks like) the prosecutor for pointing the gun toward the jury with his finger on the trigger. He, of all people, should know that is unacceptable.

LOL Did you read City of Women by Sheri Tepper?

Yes, I'm talking about open carry in everyday life, not open carry during civil unrest. Open carry when doing grocery shopping, for example.

Bolt was closed, too. Binger is a menace.
