Well, in religious matters there's theory, and then there's real life.
You might try watching some of the interviews with Muslims who became Christians, and hear straight from them how it happens. Their real-life experiences don't seem to follow the assumptions you hint at here. They tend not to "be taught by people" to change their beliefs.
