"claiming that a teenager who later regrets having her breasts removed can just get new ones. " - this statement by itself tells me everything I need to know about the motives of the "advocates".

In their utopia life decisions would have no consequences.

It’s like when all those buildings got burned down in the summer of 2020. One response by the protesters was, “they’re not losing anything, they have insurance!” A life without consequence

A conversation among the rioters was reported to me in which one rioter commented that no one would "hear" them until they burned everything down. Another rioter replied that their adversaries, the "white" people (their demographic), wouldn't be moved by the antiracism cause, but would simply rebuild what had been there before. Someone else in the gathering of rioters suddenly asked, "What if no one builds it back?" According to the person who witnessed this exchange, the group of young people fell silent. They had no prepared answer.

Bari and the Honestly contributors have written about this. Some children who transitioned may permanently lose the ability to have an orgasm, which cannot be reversed. They may also suffer from permanent bone loss, which makes you weak and frail your entire life. We're not lego blocks that can go from one playset to another.

I just finished reading the Genesis (in the Bible -read as a myth and not history ) of Noah and the flood and had to laugh actually. Noah has to bring two of everything - male and female - on board and then the world could be repopulated after the waters subsided. All I could think of was thank God, Noah isn't building the ark today - who or what would he bring aboard -do elephants and spiders trans or just humans. Dare I remind everyone of bill Cosby's hilarious take on Noah before he was "exposed" and sent to jail. It was pretty funny.

Dorothy: Actually he did not bring two of everything*. And; zhooompa, zhooompa, ting! Love that bit. 😎

*2 Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, 3 and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth. Genesis 7:2-3

don't know what translation you are reading--there are dozens of translations - some in more contemporary language - = the Jerusalem version says -from all living creatures from all living things you muwt tqke two of each kind aboard the ark ...they must be a male and a female "you must take two of each kiind - they nust be a male and a female " of every clean anima;l you must take severn pairs - a male and its female - unclean the same - etc - == the male and its mate sounds sort of "wokeish" to me - I have read this story in many versions and never came across that one-

Genesis 7: 2-3 below versions all in agreement.

New King James Version: https://biblia.com/bible/nkjv/genesis/7/2-3

Contemporary English Version: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis%207&version=CEV

New Jerusalem Bible: https://www.bibliacatolica.com.br/en/new-jerusalem-bible/genesis/7/ .... "Of every clean animal you must take seven pairs, a male and its female; of the unclean animals you must take one pair, a male and its female 3. (and of the birds of heaven, seven pairs, a male and its female), to preserve their species throughout the earth."

What is the citation to the passage you provided?

am not quite sure what you mean by citation - it is from the jerusalem bible which "the translation has been made directly from the hebrew greek or aramaic - i see in the new revised standard 7"2-3 says mate (the Jerusalem does not use that term in vs 2-3) ate but reading on to 6 and following male and female is used - and that is the end of the bible lesson for today - time for a movie.

Citation means a reference to the specific book, chapter, and verse(s). So, Genesis, Chapter 7, verses 2 & 3. The links are to a variety of translations that are all in agreement.

And, yes, while it does say male and female it also says, "2 Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, 3 and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth..." And thus Noah took a lot more than just two of the different types of animals he brought onto the ark. Which was the point of my first reply to you. And now, that is actually the end of the Bible lesson.

No wonder the left is so outright hostile to religion.

Religion does a good job on its own of creating hostility to its silly and childish beliefs. I'm fine with spirituality, community and morality lessons [we are practicing Catholics], but if you believe the Earth was made in 6 days or that a boat with some animals repopulated the Earth then you've lost me. We wouldn't be typing these comments on modern technology if we had never questioned the church.

Joe-- True. We are Catholic, too, but understand the stories in the Bible are attempts to teach rather than being actual events.

You actually might want to join me in the Bible in a Year podcast with Fr. Mike Schmitz which was #1 for a period last year. It's being replayed this year. It's not a myth or just a children's story. I've learned a lot as a Catholic going through the entire Bible...so much so that I'm doing it a second year.

Appreciate the kind offer, and I'm sorry for calling your studies childish. I was just in Florence, and the majesty and creativity shown by Catholic culture is awe-inspiring. I misspoke when I called myself an atheist. I don't think humans are here because of a cosmic lottery. We have a higher purpose, at least I think so. I just don't buy the imagery and metaphors for a supreme being that are common to all religions from the Mediterranean basin [Sumerians had a flood myth long before Noah]. And the idea of waiting for a heaven was clearly influenced by the few and the powerful as a way to subjugate the poor. Nevertheless I am fond of the first principle lessons of the Bible: There are more important things in the universe than ourselves. Some futurists like myself, Carl Sagan and Elon Musk, can be called astrophiles. Those like us believe that our destiny is great, but mysterious, and must be found in the realm beyond our own solar system. Human understanding was relatively flat for the last 6k years of our existence, with incremental changes. With the advent of petroleum and computer science in the 19th and 20th centuries, innovation exploded, and so has our understanding of each other—as well as our capabilities as a species. The things we can do now would be called god-like to our ancestors in the Bible. Clearly we are heading somewhere, the question is for what purpose? We're going to find out.

I'm an atheist, but my wife is Catholic. I'm not hostile to religion per se, but I am wary of fanatics—mainly I find them on the Protestant side. I respect the Catholic Church for it's embrace of multiculturalism, family, morality-based teaching [our children attended Catholic school], and their embrace of science. Although the Church has and continues to have problems, our experience has been very positive.

All institutions have problems, no doubt. I hope one day you become a believer. It's great over here. And as a practicing Catholic, I know that God will judge all of us...including priests, Bishops, Cardinals and even Popes.
