One thing that was not mentioned is that dramatic reduction in girls also coincided with the Swedish national television showing a documentary called Trans Train which featured people who had undergone the surgery and now regretted doing so. You can watch it (in Swedish with English subtitles) on youtube. (Unless you are in Sweden, where SVT blocks access for copyright reasons. You will have to get it through SVT).
There are many 'social contact' psychiatric disorders you can catch from your social groups or the media, and the evidence is pretty strong that 'gender dysphoria' is one of them.
"Social contact" There must be a lot to this. Our family knows or knows of a handful on gender non-conforming girls who asked to be called a new name. Interestingly Ashe and Alex and highly over-represented amongst them. This suggests that they are appealing to some character, be it from a book, youtube, tik-tok, a friend, or other. They borrowed from a social contact
Yes. In the specific case of ROGD it’s because puberty, and the changes it involves, is such an awkward and disorienting experience for so many kids, especially girls, especially in a pornographied culture. Their natural discomfort is being exploited by people with ideological and financial agendas. And concerned parents are being convinced or pressured by these “experts” to suspend their natural instinct to protect their kids’ physical bodies and psychosocial boundaries. It’s a tragedy of truly epic proportions.
I have no doubt you are correct. But I think it can be even simpler. Puberty is awkward for everyone. But girls experience a much more dramatic change in their bodies. I'm a man who went through delayed puberty. I grew 7 inches, 5 shoe sizes, and 40 pounds in my second and third years of college. I get awkward, weird, and embarrassing. But I suspect for girls normal puberty can be even moreso. If I could have run away from my body I would have. Gender dysphoria was never a thing all those years ago, at least not ROGD. Now it is. Add the unrealistic expectations of beauty our society often places on women and it further complicates matters. ROGD is a doorway to run away from one's body and escape all that awkward and anxiety. Or at least trade it for a seemingly simpler set of worries.
I just read the article linked elsewhere on Common Sense about how Women Against Abuse in Philadelphia hired equity consultants to become anti-racist, and within a short time it went from an important, functioning organization to one that was crippled by infighting where its employees saw absolutely everything through the lens of “racism”. I’m interested in the idea that people can catch psychiatric disorders from media or social groups. In the case of WAA, it almost seems like the entire organization caught paranoia, among other things. To me, I think that ideas like Critical Theory appeal to people who already have personality disorders. What could be better if you’re paranoid than to find out that vast, hidden systems are oppressing you and others? What could be better for narcissists than to be able to dismiss anything they don’t agree with as “someone else’s truth”? But, the idea that this might go the other way is new to me. Can something like “woke” actually cause personality disorders in people who are susceptible?
What fascinates me, is that the trans-train isn't being disrupted by similar allegations (as what the Women Against Abuse experienced). The trans-train feeds on youth with psychiatric disorders and those on the autism spectrum (i.e., "people with disabilities," one of the supposed sacred cow groups of the Left), and LAUSD apparently had a discussion about how teachers have to be especially careful in discussing trans issues with black families, because they tend to be more conservative on this issue. I.e., the same people pushing the White Colonizers R Evil for Pushing Their Values on BIPOC People-Without-Agency don't see that pushing their what-seems-to-me-be a Very White Agenda (the whole trans ideology thing) on black families and kids is just another form of pushing White Values on black people (not that this was a traditional white value, but rather whites seem to be the group most caught up in this stuff). Which leads me to believe (among other things I've observed) that none of this is about care for the so-called Marginalized Groups. Being "anti-black" or "ableist" is a "problem" if a group is committed to helping actual women, but if there is Gold in Them Thar Hills (and the trans industry sounds pretty lucrative) then we just turn a blind eye. It is all about power and greed, and the identity politics is a ruse thrown in for destruction. Like a bomb that only detonates in the "right" spot. Just fascinating. And terrifying.
As Laura C points out, indirectly it is more than just greed - greed is a symptom, a tool. As jt points out, power is a goal, but that too is a symptom and a tool. The underlying cause is possession. Enough people have now become possessed by the SJW, Critical Theory driven, neo-marxism that we are experiencing the west's "Cultural Revolution" like the USSRs and China's.
Noell Mering's book Awake not Woke, James Lindsay's work, and others have convinced me that it what is happening. Mao's approach to China's cultural revolution is what is playing out in the US and I think in the EU. While I do think China, Russia, and Iran have been funding these forces -- the underlying problem is deeper. Perhaps it is our turning away from judaeo christian ethics and god, of having had it so good for so long that we no longer recognize evil when we see it. Wolves in sheep's clothing etc.
But the four horseman of the west's demise are clear: the Lysenkoism of climate change, gender, race, and for the EU - post colonialism. I wish it were not so. I hope this is wrong.
*Very* fine comment, Sir Patriot. Cultural revolution.
"While I do think China, Russia, and Iran have been funding these forces -- the underlying problem is deeper. Perhaps it is our turning away from judaeo christian ethics and god, of having had it so good for so long that we no longer recognize evil when we see it. Wolves in sheep's clothing etc."
I think that has a lot to do with the cause. But I think a lotta people (mebbe most?) recognize evil when they see it. I'm sorry, but I believe they either don't know *what* to do about it, or are too hung up on social media to wanna make the big effort. That's largely my case, tho don't partake of SM.
No need to apologize, 100% agree that people don’t know what to do about it. That’s been me for a while now, so I learn all I can that might help guide me. Social Media and media plays a part I think as a means of indoctrination.
Mao and Lenin knew that a stable population would not revolt. “Vladimir Lenin argued that the oppressed cannot of their own accord sufficiently understand the depths of their oppression and, therefore, need an intellectual class continually reminding them to be angry and feel hated.”
Mao targeted authority generally and more specifically: “These four authorities—political, family, religious and masculine—are the embodiment of the whole feudal-patriarchal ideology and system, and are the four thick ropes binding the Chinese people.”
And where might the West’s internal authority lie? Science, law (the police), knowledge (education), judeo-christian values (religion), and our three branches of government. And how might you attack each to sow chaos?
Neo-Marxist SJWs ideology has perverted science and education. The models that claim a climate emergency are not predictive and therefore of little value. The peer reviewed scientific consensus is a political tool of destabilization, not a scientific certainty.
Gender is not wholly a social construct and the true “science” does not support claims that it is, only neo-Marxist, post-modern social constructionist ideology does.
The police are not racist thugs needing to be de-funded. The statistics claiming they are are mendacious.
Post colonialism, with its attendant iconoclasm, is about shaming the majority and building resentment in minority groups. Shame leads to resentment, resentment to hate, and hate to violence.
All the above makes us question the authority of our culture, i.e., authority, generally. This is evidence that we are in the West’s cultural revolution. It is not ironic that Lenin coined the phrase “politically correct” nor that communism uses identity politics to gain authoritarian control.
Attacking energy is an evil brilliance, as disrupting it sufficiently will induce inflation, starvation (oil produces most fertilizer) and decimate economies. As that happens, the climate claims may become a reinforcing loop - people are starving because of the climate change or because they must be allowed to to save the planet. At which point, in the ensuing chaos, China rides in on a white horse to “save the West from itself.”
A dystopian tale to be sure, but there is evidence for it. As there is clear evidence, China, Russia, Iran have been bankrolling and supporting these items.
I learned some things here. Thank You. And agree with the rest.
IMO, I think it's a race as to who rides in on the white horse between China and the WEF/Davos set. I think the Marxists amongst the Woke like to believe *they'll* be the ones to right the ship, but AFAIK they're delusional and too incompetent to even if they got the chance.
Also, when it comes to chaos. It appears there's a large and growing number of people in the West who positively seek chaos. Feel more *comfortable* in disorder. Actually have difficulty *living* in an ordered society. (Or mebbe it's just me, but that's what is seems.)
TY again. It's comforting to see people who *recognize* the challenge at least.
It's, basically, all about power. Actually caring about people is probably a very distant third or fourth place concern.
Scary, yeah. My *hope* is that if this trans stuff starts to unwind as the insanity it plainly *is,* then people will start to question some-a the other tenets of the Woke Religion.
Probably over-optimistic, but have been for a long time. Why change now. ;-)
Absolutely. See, for instance. Lonnie Athens *The Creation of Dangerous Violent Criminals*. or books about the Chinese Cultural Revolution written by the Chinese who lived through those times. Police States know very well how to produce whatever number of sadists are needed to prolice your dystopia, and ensure they are true believers of whatever dogma is going around.
Start by reading *Why they Kill: The Discoveries of a Maverick Criminologist* by Richard Rhodes. Lonnie Anderson is the Maverick Criminologist. Then read *The Creation of Dangerous Violent Criminals* if you want more details. 'Violent coaching' is a thing, and just coaching in bullying is a thing, and we have a pretty good idea of how this works in the creation of criminals. This is the nuts and bolts of 'why does living in a violent neigbourhood make violent new offenders' but sadly it is not well appreciated by those on the left who only want to be against underpriviledged neighbourhoods in the abstract, but who are somehow unwilling to admit that dangerous violent criminals are a problem.
For China -- this is hard, as I have shelves of books about this. It's hard to remember which does a good job of what.
Red Guard Factionalism And The Cultural Revolution In Guangzhou (canton) by Stanley Rosen I remember as being good though not by a chinese author.
The World Turned Upside Down: A history of the Chinese Cultural Revolution by Yang Jisheng is not an easy read. But it is comprehensive. But I am not sure if you do not need to have first read Tombstone: the Untold Story of Mao's Great Famine, also by Yang Jishen. It covers the period of time directly before the Cultural revolution. I read Tombstone first, and I think I would have found Upside Down confusing without that.
Laura - given your knowledge, does this summary ring true to you?

There is plenty of evidence to support your arguments up until you get to 'to save the West from itself'. There is less evidence that China wants to save anybody from anything. They have their own problems. 'Taking over the world as a security measure' seems more along the lines of traditional Chinese thought, though not as traditional as 'letting all outsiders go to hell' as a security measure.
However, I think the fight over energy is better seen as a mostly generational fight between two very nasty groups of international (mostly American) capitalists, with huge propeganda departments. The Chinese weren't slow to take advantage of this fight, but they didn't plan or orchestrate the thing.
“Save us from ourselves” was meant in a condescending, disingenuous fashion, like “having helped you come apart, we’ll lord over you as it suits us.”
“letting all outsiders go to hell' as a security measure.” sounds right as they must sense the precarious nature of the game they play domestically. It requires a lot to maintain. McMaster’s take is they want global hegemony which doesn’t mean colonization or destruction. Only for the world to pay tribute and do as they are told.
On Energy, who are the two groups? I’ve spent a good deal of time looking at energy. My understanding is that initially the oil money was greedy and sought to snuff out its nuclear competition which led to the Frankenstein’s monster of irrationality we see today — at least as it pertains to traditional nuclear tech which relies on less enriched uranium than the newer, safer tech that needs highly enriched uranium. Once it is enriched to that point making bombs gets way easier.
oil money is nearly all on one side, the economy of the real.
The other side is the economy of expectations. Read:
*Fixing the Game* by Roget L Martin.
It's a much quicker read. And you won't see the world the same way again. I'd make it part of my "required reading for _everybody_ " list, if I could.
I don't agree 100% with Martin's prescriptions for how to fix the problem, though I am extremely happy that this is not a 'just sit smugly with your superior understanding' book. It does indeed describe the problem and then address how to fix it.
