So, have you all had about enough of the decades of destruction wrought by the so-called progressives and their fantasies of creating a utopia on earth? How much more failure do you need?

Just so I understand these 'decades of destruction' you're talking about - if we go back to 1980 we have 24 years of Republican rule (laissez-faire economics, low taxes, huge deficits and all that), eight years of Clinton (who might have been a Democrat but no way was he a progressive, if you look at his deals with Newt Gingrich), and eight years of Obama (who wouldn't support gay marriage until forced to..)
Where is this destruction? Federal minimum wage is still $7.25/hr. Oil companies are still being subsidized. The Dreamers are still dreaming. What has really changed? Nothing.
The destruction I refer to started with LBJ and his so-called great society. Creating a welfare mentality, destroying the family.
Also, the destruction of academia by neoMarxists, now known as the woke, social justice warriors. Academia has created two generations of infantile, indoctrinated graduates, up to their eyeballs in debt, with worthless degrees. They are angry, and blame capitalism for their situation, not their professors.
The destruction of the concept that we judge people by the content of their character, not the color of their skin. The progressive woke has made us all racists again, just when we thought we had put that behind us. Oh no, must foment division.
Marianne...It is the "Content of Character" , not the color of skin, that is the question.
Here we are after the school funding and as of Today , 60 % of 8th graders can not read.
The problem is Not "desegregating" , but rather "Spoiling". people must learn to produce for themselves. People have come to this country(and others) with "Only " their shirts/pants and were able to succeed. People Can Vote...simple.
Are you confused or responding to something totally different? The entire point of the ***1965*** Voting Rights Act was to specifically protect the vote of Black people in the South. I'm not talking about current policies, but the poster's above assertions that everything that came out of LBJ's administration was bad. The other things I mentioned came out of the Great Society policies too.
Well, LBJ did a lot of things - good and bad. Civil Rights, good. War on poverty, good (however unsuccessful). Viet Nam, bad. Destroying the family? That's a blanket statement. I think of the generations of families that did not make it, the blame could be placed on those parents themselves.
Far left progressives, I agree, ARE dominating academia, the arts, much of the media and a large part of the Democratic Party. Their sanctimony is maddening. Their group think is breathtaking. But these very institutions are complicit in their own radicalization, in that they didn't stop it when they could have and should have. Shining a light on it, as in the Bard story, is how we can.
You may be a conservative, and I may be a hybrid of that and a liberal, but we are both on the same side when it comes to indoctrination.
I see your points, however, I think if you look at more the local issues (i.e. crime) u begin to realize how much destruction the progressives have caused. Soros DAs are killing multiple jurisdictions and threaten many more. Criminal reforms have killed public safety in California as a whole as well.
As Bloomberg did after him. Whatever happened to Giuliani anyway? The last time I saw anybody remotely looking like the man I once respected was Sept 11, twenty one years ago.
The city was very fortunate to have those two back to back. My wife and I have visited the city several times a year since the early 80's and I'm afraid the crime situation is making it less attractive to make that trip again. There are other options.

None of this can be attributed to conservatives.
Yikes ... protecting the voting rights of Black people, desegregating schools, funding Medicare and Medicaid, and funding public schools were bad?

As long as everything worked out for you ...fine and dandy, everyone is happy. thanks
Such a cool comment.
NCMaureen...there you go again, spelling the issues from a to z, but you leave NOTHING "left" for debate...here i sit. thanks.

Don...other than "points", you did fine.thanks.
Per 100000 people, the murder rate in 2019 in New York City was one fifth the rate it was in 1990.
You mean before Giuliani became mayor and actually enforced the law.

I have.
