Beware of the Pope, Bari. He likes to support one side, then undermine that side. Not a nice man.

Isn't the Pope's job description kind of all about promoting one-track thinking? I don't mean to sound anti-Catholic, because the same is true of any religious leader. Aren't they all supposed to have The One True Answer?

The Pope is supposed to be speaking about spiritual matters. This pope can't seem to focus on that. His pronouncements re income equality, the environment, capitalism, etc. have made him NYT's favorite pope. Meanwhile the pews of his churches are emptying out. He is moving the Catholic Church toward the same irrelevance that is the feature of mainline Protestantism.

Lars - sounds like a business opportunity. Start your own church and be your own Pope:

In NY state, starting a church is an actual cottage industry . The family of one of the kids that my son goes to school with has made a mint through their "church", completely tax free. A new "church" pops up in my town in the boarded up store fronts every six months.

See, e.g., L Ron Hubbard. And the LDS guy was less than 2 centuries ago, and look at how much $$$ they collected.

Disagree. This cancel culture/woke phenomena is quite anti-Christianity. ItтАЩs much like a Jim Jones religious sect.

Yes, all of his most recent pronouncements have been about his favorite new hobby horse i.e. global warming. I guess he cleared his schedule for some cancel culture concerns.
