With regard to Dobbs. It seems to me, biology still applying, there are a number of steps required to have an unwanted pregnancy. It starts with intercourse, and then ... The options for contraception today are more vast than when Roe was decided. They have been largely proven safe and 99+% effective. There are pregnancy tests readily available and largely accurate. They can be used in privacy. Abortion is still available in every state in the nation.
With this written, explain to me how a woman feels "safer" with a candidate that is "pro-abortion" and soft on crime? Women are being assaulted, raped and murdered across the US. Think of the woman pushing her baby in a stroller being rundown in Los Angeles, the woman on the NYC subway at JFK or the woman gunned down in Buffalo in front of her kids. So yes, vote for the woman (or man) candidate that supports your right to an abortion you will likely never have, over the woman (or man) candidate who cares about if you, your family or friends, can safely walk the streets of your hometown. Logical? I think not.
Because democrats have painted abortion as a women's rights issue, there is no possibility for a reasonable discussion on the issues you properly raise. They are cut off immediately by emotion, which is of course by design.
I agree with you on all points though, it makes no fucking sense and in my opinion, is a stupid social issue that gets in the way of much needed economic reform and focus.
I don’t know how stupid it actually is in terms of allowing infanticide. That happens all over the country and is heinous regardless of what the woman wants. If we don’t draw the line there, where is the line?
I find it more interesting that the things libs are rabid about all have to do with sexual activity.
It isn’t enough to say, “be an adult and take responsibility for the consequences of your actions.” There are numerous readily available methods to avoid pregnancy.
I say it’s a stupid issue because it is being used as a political weapon, when common sense tells us all that reasonable minds can and should deal with this question in their own way. I’m not in favor of the government telling women what to do. I am also no in flavor of late term abortions. This issue, and immigration, and others, are used for political power, which corrupts the system and distracts people from the more important issues like the economy and our sovereignty.
Agree with it being used as a political weapon. In fact, cases are pulled from SCOTUS to avoid an adverse decision. New York pulled a second amendment case a few years ago when it looked likely they would lose. [New York lost a similar case this year.] So Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization goes all the way to a decision with a 6-3 split in the court and 5 solid votes. You only let that go all the way to a decision if it is what you want/need for the mid-terms.
I don’t disagree that economic and sovereignty issues are important.
I’m saying the average American’s lackadaisical attitude towards things like infanticide is troubling and strongly suggests greater evils in the foreseeable future.

If anyone infantilizes women it’s liberals.

Yes, I agree wholeheartedly.
My optimism decreases every time I see young people side with progressives and the left.
