Based on that Tweet Owens I think is just reflexively reverting to media bashing mode. In her defense I would say two things:

1. The real world is complex and any time that somebody tries to sell you a simple story of good versus evil they are conning you.

2. The media is uncritically parroting propaganda from the Ukrainian government. It is completely understandable why the the Ukrainians would produce propaganda since they are in an existential conflict where their future as independent country hangs in the balance. What is less certain is why Western media chooses to pass that propaganda along with zero due diligence.

For example, any time a story reports on Ukrainian estimates of Russia casualties it should also provided US intelligence reports as an alternate source given that Ukrainian counts consistently run twice as high as what the US estimates.

The saddest part for me of your post is that I don't trust the US intelligence sources either. The final straw was when the NSA indirectly targeted Tucker Carlson, did a non-denial by saying he wasn't directly targeted but it was clear they had his data illegally (unmasked his identity). Our intelligence agencies are just another arm of the propoganda machine.

Except I have no confidence in U.S. intelligence anymore. At least the current and former leadership. They not only bought the Russia collusion/Russia disinformation/Russia hacking BS they helped sell it.

I subscribed to Cynthia Chung's Substack. She has written extensively about this. Her latest Substack deals with the Bay of Pigs and contains a whole lot of information that was new to me. I was a young teenager when JFK became president and have a fairly good recollection of the times but didn't know half the information she provided.

I'm disappointed in Owens. Got to think she has been reading the Russian propaganda.

She hasn’t (from what I’ve seen) said Putin is a good guy. Just that Zelinski is highly … problematic.

Or is suffering from the right version of TDS - Progressive Derangement Syndrome. I think we all need to be wary of taking a position against something just because the opposition is for it.

Great points. There was and is a lot of corruption in both countries. See Hunter Biden and Burisma. Neither side is angelic. As I understand it Ukraine was shelling the Donbas for years. I do admire Zelenskys efforts to fight for HIS country but also think a negotiated peace would be in the best interests of HIS country(and ours)

I don't know where the truth lies with Ukraine. I don't know much about Zelensky other than what I have heard and read. What I do know is that Russia is destroying Ukraine day by day and over 2 million Ukrainians have had to flee for their lives. That's a fact. What Russia is doing is evil and our weak, decrepit president invited Russian aggression. This would never have happened under Trump. Biden, by canceling US oil exploration, production and distribution (pipelines) enabled a worldwide shortage of oil thereby forcing prices of a barrel from $36 to over $130 and rising. This enabled Putin to be able to afford a war against Ukraine. What would Trump have done? Well, he would have sent Mike Pompeo or Jared Kushner or some other highly capable person to Moscow to privately inform Putin he better not invade Ukraine. Trump would also have gotten on the phone to Putin because Trump knows how to stroke and rattle at the same time. He is a master negotiator. Then Trump would have turned on the oil spigots to further lower the price of oil and put a crimp in Russia's economic adventuring. Biden and company want WW3.

Trump knew how to talk with people like Putin. MSM jumping on positive things he said about russian president don't understand the way russian drunks communicate. Conversation is going like this "you are a great guy and strong leader, Vova, and I love you to death, but if you decide to invade Ukraine I'll f---ng bomb Kremlin into pieces".

Correct, Naomi. No doubt another impetus for Putin’s invasion was the way Biden mishandled Afghanistan. I can’t think of a greater foreign policy blunder in my lifetime, though Obama’s JCPOA with Iran makes my short list. With his proposed successor treaty with that corrupt theocracy and his overtures to Maduro, our President seeks to outdo himself and live up to the characterization that he has been on the wrong side of every major foreign policy decision.

The Obama administration meddled in Ukraine too. The U.S. does not have clean hands.
