I am a veterinarian and seen the back end of a cow up close and personal if you know what I mean - I wouldn’t drink raw milk on a bet. It might be clean 99% of the time - but it only takes one bad batch to make you very sick. TB isn’t the main health issue any longer, at least for dairy cows anyway - it’s Salmonella, Shigella and E.col…

TB isn’t the main health issue any longer, at least for dairy cows anyway - it’s Salmonella, Shigella and E.coli that are all over every dairy barn because they are a part of every normal dairy cow.
Well said. I was in the meat and seafood business for 35 years and witnessed my share of farms, fishing and aquaculture operations, and processing facilities both in the US and overseas. There is a reason for USDA and FDA oversight of food production. Many other countries don't have the level of health protection that we have. The warning to only eat well-cooked food and drink bottled water in many countries should be top-of-mind for travelers. Anything raw - including fruit - is dangerous. A friend ate a raw apple in Vietnam and nearly died of dysentary.
Even fruit that you peel and wash your hands before eating it can be dangerous. Fruit merchants sometimes inject water into fruit to make it weigh more (if selling by weight) and you know where the water comes from. It may not be the fruit-seller in the stall who is guilty. It might be the farmer who sold him the fruit, ripping *him* off.
I ate a salad in Vietnam- my bad - and had to be hospitalized. There are dangers in everything. If I didn’t drink raw milk, I would give milk up. Pasteurized milk is just liquid fat. The article raises important food issues. Completely unexpected Ms Weiss!
Good point and I'm not saying there isn't incompetence (or malfeasance) in government agencies. What I am saying is that without sanitation and food safety rules, we'd be running the risk towards our food supply that exists in other countries today.

Would that be the same FDA that approved untested Covid vaccines for millions of trusting and deceived Americans? Asking for a friend.

I agree 100%.
But don't you think it should be much more local? With interstate agreements, but done locally.
Don’t forget brucellosis
And TB.
Thank you--good to know!
