As the Left's takeover of American institutions becomes so complete that even the military is starting to turn woke, the entry point to a better life that worked for the author may not even be available to others in the future.
That was my take from the essay as well. You can throw every opportunity and any amount of money at people, but they will remain in the situation where they are comfortable. We see this with lottery winners, too. Typically, within a few years, they end up as poor or poorer than they were before they suddenly got rich.
That’s because we refuse to admit the gigantic elephant in the room which is that there is a cultural element that would need to be addressed to facilitate change. Throwing money and resources at the problem simply provides more money and resources for people to continue to make bad choices, it does nothing to change the behavior.
