I wish I could “like” this comment 4 bazillion times. Washington has become to a lot of America what London and George III was to America in the 1770’s.

Why not get rid of all of the offices for reps and senators in DC and make them sit in their offices in their states and districts, then get together a few times a year, like they did in early American days? They made us educate our kids and run our businesses by Zoom for two years, and they seem to think we all did marvelously…

I don't think the author is way off ... actually, he pretty much says what you state to be true ... it is an aristocracy problem monopolized by two parties who have either passed over or ignored the plight of guys like Mike.

Oh no no no. I feel you are politicizing a heartbreaking story and missing the point! Mike’s problems began when his father left. Family is crucially important and the breakdown of our families has led to terrible social consequences. Throw in alcoholism, an absolute scourge to our society along with drugs, and you have a toxic mix.

Sometimes the wounds of childhood can’t be overcome. I’m sorry for your loss Mr. Bloodworth.

My understanding is that a lot of the 2008 bail out money (ostensibly to help Americans recover) went directly into Chinese real estate… from which withdrawals are not easy or even possible.
