I want to give praise to Maya Sulkin for her interviews. I have watched/listened to several of her interviews now. I noticed that she always comes to these interviews well prepared with backgrounds understanding and insightful questions for the guests. Keep up the good works.

One comment on this DEI topics as it pertains to Asian American student admissions to IVY League universities. The reality is that there are only so many spots each year for admissions (i.e., the pie is only so big). When you want to admit some other disadvantaged groups, you are forced to refused other equally qualified and even more qualified students. In that sense, equity and fairness are mutually exclusive.

Michael Edwards's avatar

Kudos to The Free Press for publishing the story about the state of DEI in America. That DEI's shortcomings and failure to produce the desired results in not unexpected but the will and courage to discuss these issues is refreshing. Thank you.

Developers use an HTML attribute called target="_blank". This tells your browser to load the link in a fresh tab so you don't lose your place on the original news page. Is that so hard?

I'd look into it, FP...

Stephanie Newland's avatar

You can also right click on a link and 'open link in new tab' is the top option.

Herodotus II's avatar

That's what you HAVE to do, unless you want it to replace what you're reading. Strangely, at least from what I've seen, Nellie's TGIF does have the 'target="_blank"' feature for its links. That's clout...

"Israel launched another round of attacks against Hezbollah on Tuesday, striking several targets across Lebanon. The renewed offensive comes at a particularly volatile moment, as the U.S. continues to push for a peace deal with Iran."

Hezbollah is directly responsible for killing 241 Americans in Beirut and Iran is indirectly responsible by sponsoring that attack as well as countless others. Both need to be crushed. Iran will never negotiate in good faith and making a deal with them now will be little different than making a deal with them under Obama.

They are never going to stop working to build nuclear weapons and they literally have the destruction of America and Israel written into their constitution. After 47 years of being the number one worldwide sponsor of terror, how can anyone believe that they can change?

Please Mr. President, cut the head off of this viper.

Hard to reconcile the response to fraud and why every single American who pays taxes (except those perpetrating the fraud) are not screaming for justice. If someone steals your credit and goes on a $1000 shopping spree at COSTCO you’d be mad as hell and calling the card company. It’s the same damn thing. If we can’t agree on that we are so fuc…….screwed.

Biden suing to stop release of recordings and documents. Hmmmm, now why would someone do that? Dr. Jill’s interview regarding Joes performance during his meltdown debate was absolutely gag inducing. When followed by the video of her telling him how great he did during the debate was unreal. If she thought he was having a stroke she sure didn’t see the need to rush him for medical treatment.

All involved in propping up the last two years of his Presidency should be prosecuted for high crimes against the US.

KARYN TRUITT's avatar

Goes back to the old dem adage, Don't believe what you see and hear!! Believe what WE tell you to believe! And I guess its really not that old. There are plenty of people who still believe what they are TOLD to believe, and NOT what they see and hear.

It's hysterical hearing Jilly tell everyone he had a stroke. No medical treatment, no concern after. Just lots of cheerleading and kissy-face about how *GREAT* he did.

Jackson74's avatar

When there is an NBC article about Biden and Jill thinking he had a stroke, it eventually turns a corner and starts talking about Trump, as if that famous debate was a tie. Right after the debate you had Biden enthusiasts spinning the results until the emperors new clothes effect became obvious….

JN64's avatar

"With Trump having toppled Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela, prosecuting a war with Iran, and eyeing Cuba, that prediction aged like milk."

Circumstances change. Competent people will adapt to meet those changes.

Sometimes people will get stuck in a rut and repeat the same things over and over and over.

Much like reading TheFP each morning...

You think you WON'T find DEI offices and staff if you visit almost any US college campus today (or decent-sized municipality or corporation)? The only differences from a few years ago are that the office won't be called DEI, and the most extreme staffers -- the ones whose views were creating Title IX, Title VII, and equal protection lawsuits -- will be missing. But otherwise the beat goes on.

Lanny's avatar

Exactly!

Well, to the credit of the university I work for, they really did completely remove it. Not sure if there is anything with a different name replacing it, but I no longer have to have a certain number of hours of "diversity training" for my annual review anymore (with nothing to replace it either) and I don't see any emails or articles of similar initiatives. I suspect there are still a lot of universities that are trying to maintain it stealthily though.

All one need do to validate your comment is look at some of the comments on TFP.

Fortunately they seem to be a minority.....for now!

Amen. You should see the WSJ these days. Hard left in many cases. I read to keep abreast and avoid comments as ths lack of intellectual honesty is abundant ( maybe thats what the nyt fellas were urging on the subject of abundance??)

I avoid comments on all MSM outlets. They are a cesspool and a total waste of time. Probably a lot of bots of all sorts as well.

Rick Miller's avatar

Genocide is defined as “violent attacks with the specific intent to destroy, in part or in whole, a national, racial, ethnic or religious group.” Are you accusing Israel of actually doing this? When it specifically was targeting Hamas as its enemy? When the population of Gaza actually increased over the last 2.5 years? That the death count is ~60,000 (per Hamas) of a population of 2.5 million? Did “innocent” Gazans die? Yes, absolutely.

What we’ve seen is NOT a genocide but a war. And, Hamas, as a fighting force in Gaza, used civilians as human shields. That is fact.

But, the “genocide” narrative, which started even before Israel invaded Gaza was already being deployed.

Tony, those that call this a genocide, even the so called experts, as tools of Hamas. Useful idiots.

You seem to be a smart guy. Don’t be an idiot, a tool of the Progressive Left and a supporter of the Red/Green Alliance.

B.'s avatar

"Tony, those that call this a genocide, even the so called experts, as tools of Hamas."

I think this comment is meant for Tony Ledsham. I'm B., and glad Israel is retaliating against these Islamist murderers.

Lanny's avatar

B does it seem like there is a growing number of insufferable assholes on TFP?

I “experienced combat” but I’d never be a jerk who assumes civilians are somehow disqualified from having an opinion on military operations.

We have at least one incredibly condescending prig on TFP this AM.

Peter R Kohli's avatar

Lanny's avatar

Tony Ledsham's avatar

You probably support the genocide in Gaza (and now Lebanon) don’t you Lanny?

Stan 777's avatar

Why did Hamas, which built about 500 miles of tunnels under Gaza, not allow civilians to shelter there? Ask yourself that before accusing Israel of anything. The people of Gaza knew exactly what Hamas was doing...hard to hide a construction project on that scale. Essentially, they were onboard with Hamas' strategy.

As far as I'm concerned, Hamas and their fellow Palestinians have conducted the largest human sacrifice in history. All in order to influence gullible westerners like you. Seems that their ethics have advanced very little from the days when their ancestors worshiped Moloch. But then again, they say openly that they love death like we love life.

Scott A Miller's avatar

Well said Stan.

If the IDF were conducting a genocide, the Gaza Strip would have been devoid of life in under three months.

Rick Miller's avatar

Oh, my… good ole Tony pulled the “genocide” card. Hey, Tony… have you recently looked up the definition of “genocide”?

Tonto Branco's avatar

Tony, words matter. Genocide requires intent to destroy a people as such. Israel is targeting Hamas and Hezbollah, not Palestinians as a national or ethnic group. You can criticize tactics, civilian harm, or proportionality without flattening every war into “genocide.”

Tony Ledsham's avatar

It’s not Hezbollah and Hamas - Israel has been very clear since 1948 and the Nakba. They intend to clear all Palestinians out of Israel, then expand Israel to the greater Levant. Why do you think they’ve moved into Lebanon, while the US fights their proxy war for them in Iran?

Not just Gaza, but the occupied colonies on the West Bank as well. There’s nowhere for the Palestinians to go, so the IDF herds them into refugee camps and systematically starves them. If that’s the kind of state you support, then may God have mercy on your soul.

Peter R Kohli's avatar

Whatever it is you’re smoking, I want some of that. I hate reality.

Lanny's avatar

This guy just gets more delusional with each reply.

BUT it is interesting to read the ravings of someone who is that consumed with hate.

KARYN TRUITT's avatar

You *do* realize that there ARE palestinians LIVING in Israel, right? Working in Israel. Some are even IN the Government of Israel. How many Israeli's in the palestine government?

The Israelis are NOT 'herding' palestinians into refugee camps. They have cities with buildings and infrastructure. If they are living in tents, its because they are lobbing bombs into Israel, and Israel lobs them back. That tends to destroy structures...

"systemically starving" ??? How can they be systemically starving them when ISRAEL is the country sending literal tons of food, water, and medical supplies?? Oh, wait. You don't know that Hamas *steals* all of that and then holds it hostage, selling it to the people, or 'rewarding' those who fight.

How many generations does it take to stop being 'refugees'?? And they were NEVER refugees to start with. The UN began calling them that when their home countries wouldn't allow them to return after the war in 1967.

You should *really* do some research.

Peter R Kohli's avatar

Karyn, I’ve already asked him for some of what he’s smoking. If he really is a him!

Tonto Branco's avatar

Israel’s enemies have also been very clear since 1948: Jews into the sea, assuming they don’t kill them first.

The UN partitioned the land. One side accepted. The other chose war. Decades of rejected deals, failed leadership, terror campaigns, and regional meddling followed.

So no, I’m not buying the tidy morality play where Israel is uniquely evil and everyone else is just a misunderstood peace activist with rockets.

You can criticize Israel’s policies without rewriting the conflict as if one side is innocent victimhood incarnate and the other is cartoon evil. The word “genocide” is being used here because it carries maximum emotional force, not because it cleanly fits the legal definition.

B.'s avatar

If there's any genocide being contemplated, it's by Hamas, against Israelis. And that's what protest-happy college students and other undereducated patsies with their keffiyehs and baklavas don't get.

Mike Gustine's avatar

The worlds slowest genocide I guess? How long has the conflict been going on? Decades. If Israel is committing genocide they are obviously pretty terrible at it. Personally, I don't take the word of terrorists over the word of democratic states (Israel has a large Arab population, so again, not very good at genocide it seems). Clearly, you do.

Lanny's avatar

You’re dead wrong. Please don’t make assumptions.

dan brandt's avatar

All one has to do is observe what Iran has built in the 47 years of appeasement and trying to buy peace from those who don't want peace but domination to understand, Iran should have been dealt with a long time ago. And like a festering boil that will eventually come to a head and needs to be dealt with, we finally have leadership which recognizes Iran can no longer be appeased or ignored. But then the one thing boomers are very good at is kicking the can down the road to royally screw our future generations. The mess' are ours to clean up and not pass on to anyone else and we must shoulder the suffering of the consequences. We have already caused great harm to the first two generations to follow us. Time to step up and o what needs to be done. And sitting on our hands is not an option.

Tony Ledsham's avatar

You don’t “buy” peace with crippling sanctions. You’re 180 out dan.

dan brandt's avatar

You'rer not really having any deep thoughts here are you? Obama tried to buy peace. Oooops you say. Sanctions do work. Unless of course you have proof they don't in all cases.

Because when biden lifted the sanctions on Iran: President Biden did not officially lift sanctions on Iran, but his administration has been criticized for lax enforcement, which allowed Iran's oil exports to increase significantly. This has enabled Iran to fund various militant groups and activities in the region

he Biden administration on Thursday rescinded former president Donald Trump’s restoration of U.N. sanctions on Iran, an announcement that could help Washington move toward rejoining the 2015 nuclear agreement aimed at reining in the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program. "how did that work out"

Google: did biden's with drawing the sanctions on Iran help Iran

Tells how the Iranians financed the tens of thousands drones and missiles they fired everyday this year. How did the finance their fast boats, especially the ones that were not human run but robot boats.

I could go one. But you are a loser using the same arguments the losers used prior to Nov 2024.

But I encourage you to keep posting. People like you are one of the best things going for Republicans. Play to the base, alienate independents and lose elections. What a strategy!

BUT I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for him to gain some humility.

Tony Ledsham's avatar

I don’t appreciate the condescension “Karyn”. I’m a decorated 66 year old combat veteran and retired senior officer. I’ve seen the horrors of war. My son is an officer in the Navy Reserve. I’m terrified that he will be sent to the Gulf. Where’s the Israeli Navy? Harassing peaceful flotillas in international waters?

Rick Miller's avatar

Yes. Not only threatened but continues to threaten the western world and, certainly, Israel.

Marlene's avatar

Wasn’t Iran behind the Beirut bombing that killed over 200 marines? Isn’t Iran behind the entire terrorist networks. 47 years of attacks on Americans. Am I missing something?

Peter R Kohli's avatar

You are correct. I really think that this guy, if he really is a guy, is not doing anything other than seeking childish attention. Let’s ignore him.

Tonto Branco's avatar

Dunno, Tony, but when a regime chants “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” for decades, funds armed proxies, and fires missiles at its enemies, I tend not to assume they’re just misunderstood poets

Rocket J. Squirrel's avatar

You are right that Iran never threatened anyone, just like Joe Biden was sharp as a tack and hard for his staff to keep up with. Here are a couple of examples of expressions of love from the Iranian regime:

"We are planning to break America, Israel, and their partners and allies... and cleanse the planet from the filth of their existence." Hossein Salami (Former IRGC Commander), 2019.

"Yes, it will happen. Death to America will happen…”. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, November 1922.

All they want is to cuddle.

Lanny's avatar

Each time I think surely this guy can't be anymore clueless, he goes and proves me wrong.

"How has Iran threatened anyone?"

😂😂😂😂😂

BUT I gotta admit that his cluelessness is kinda funny.

dan brandt's avatar

Tens of thousands drones, missiles, medium range missiles. Ability to close the Hormuz strait.

Wow the cult leader accusing others of being what he is. Iran has vowed, in writing, to destroy and wipe off the map Israel. So, either you call the Iranian government liars, or you believe what they say. Are you calling them liars? The threat is enough, along with Iran's growing ability to fulfill that threat, that you have to give Israel the same deference you give Iran to fight to save their country and population. And it doesn't take an ICBM for Iran to bring a nuclear device into this country. In fact, that is a childish and stupid statement to make. They will smuggle it in and use it. For all we know, when joe left the border open, the parts for such a bomb and the humans with skills to assemble it are already here. Take your propaganda and shove it where the sun doesn't shine. Iran has stated it's purpose and hacks like you can't deny it.
