Great piece but how can you end it with the system is working? I understand there are 2 whistleblowers etc, but really? It feels like you didn’t read your own piece.

Yes the whistleblowers may be the beginning of the system fixing itself, but the pattern of unaccountable partisan abuses that Eli himself lays out don’t inspire confidence that anything meaningful will come from this, or even that this sort of skullduggery won’t happen again and again.

Recall that John Brennan got to head the CIA despite having voted for a communist for president and kept his job despite having been found to have spied on Congress. What should have happened to Brennan is a public execution. Instead, he got a big reward from our state media.
