I have never been a fan of “hate” crimes. If you assault or kill me I don’t really care about your “feelings” towards me or my race. Crime is crime. Interestingly there is “systemic racism” against Asians.

I've long thought the same, but when listening to "Advisory Opinions" legal podcast I think they made a really good point.
Hate crimes are useful for going after lesser crimes (vandalism etc) that normally wouldn't be much of a crime, but are added to because of the terrorizing aspect of the hate crime.
Thanks for the response. Still disagree. Very frustrated about how many crimes are not prosecuted or treated seriously. Have the laws and enforce them(equally) or remove the “laws”
