Amazon has now placed on hold the Kindle edition of Thomas Sowell's 1999 book Vision of the Anointed. I guess they will next ban a copy of the Declaration of Independence or a copy of the Bill of Rights. We live not in interesting times, but insane ones.

I worked in the Antitrust Division from the late 80s to the mid 90s, a time when mergers and acquisitions were taking place in banking, health care, and other areas of the economy. The thinking was that larger enterprises meant greater economies of scale, which benefitted consumers. Conservatives bought into this idea, but are now being hoisted by their own petards by it. They never imagined that concentration of market power in publishing, big tech, and other areas would become tools to further the aims of crypto-Marxists and their enablers. When one company controls a massive share of the book market, it's not just economics anymore: that company has outsized control over the exercise of a fundamental Constitutional right. Antitrust policy should take that into consideration.

Wow, that is a really great point. There were so many enabling factors that led to our current plight, but I never would have even considered this. It certainly makes sense. Thanks for sharing.
