The one thing that kept people semi-sane in the old USSR were jokes about the ineptitude and utter ridiculousness of their government. Could it be that the undermining of the utterly pathetic group of clowns (a patently senile fabulist pretending to be president) and freaks (Biden's cabinet features dwarves, pixies, and even a faux sailor in a dress) who purport to rule over us begins with subversive jokes? One can only hope. Fighting back with ridicule and derision sure beats a real shooting war.

How did the Right become the counterculture?

It was once George Carlin testing the limits, provoking authority, challenging conformity, and playing to audiences on college campuses. But something inverted, and now college campuses are factories of orthodoxy where boundary-pushing comedy gets escorted off stage.

I don’t personally find Joe Rogan all that funny, but I’m glad that he’s out there keeping some space open for folks to keep testing the limits.

The “no phones” might be good for the comics, but it’s definitely good for the patrons. Imagine a world where we go to watch something and are fully immersed in the moment instead of trying to capture the moment. I wish more places did this.

One really, really important statement is, "Iron sharpens iron". Now put that against the insane demands of the woke mobs demanding medical school and other specialties allow folks in with little to no standards. Now you need surgery and you have your choice of the person who had the grades, test scores for medical school, and really studied and got great grades or Snuffy who just got in because and we don't need no stinking white racial grading system that denies us opportunities! OK, quick, pick one to cut on you.

Only competition and standards helps provide the improvements in life. No matter the field, someone wants to be the best Heating/Air Service provider or the best computer programmer. Yet today, the insane woke folks think everyone should be the exact same. No one should be exceptional or allowed to get ahead unless they are approved by the woke mob. That is why comedy is so important. You think you will see/hear any jokes in Crazyfornia about the male football player saying, "glad we now have female sanitary products in the locker room, I am having cramps from practice"?

Rogan (not always a big fan of him), asks are we in a cult by not being able to discuss something? Ah yeah Joe, it is a cult of wokeism and if they could, they just might kill you. People do not have that ability to laugh at themselves anymore and everything is an insult. Everybody has some laughable past things, like those who thought Biden was a uniter! How hilarious is that?

To do this in Austin is definitely a kick in the face of woke, plus the new college (plug here) that actually teaches different opinions and encourages free discussion. Plus both dare to be successful and in demand in a city that has flown to the extreme left. How crazy is that? Only by getting back in the faces of the woke crazies of men having babies and allowing men taking away women sports opportunities, and so many others, can we defeat the current trend of stupidity that is charging across America and trying to destroy all that has been built.

We were once free to speak and think as we wanted and that is under assault and we need more articles like this showing real life and places like comedy clubs, articles, books, we can go read, laugh, think, and say, Hell Yes! Then life starts to actually get fun again.

Rogan’s podcast has been a voice of sanity and source of hope for me the past few years, much like FP. I think Nellie’s TGIF is funnier than his standup, though

I like this. a LOT. The right is the new counterculture.. comedy is now dangerous and underground again. God bless Joe Rogan for putting his money and time in taking back some space from the powerful scolds that govern our (current) cultural universe. Good for him! Good for all of us, quite frankly.

It will take humor to get us out of this censorship woke nightmare. Thanks, Joe Rogan!

The right is not the new counter culture. It’s the middle. Joe Rogan represents all the oppressed voices in the middle. Common sense, unbridled curiosity, palpable joy and unwavering integrity. That’s Joe’s success, and the hopeful mirror of us all.

The caricatures and foibles of humans is funny. It always has been funny. Jokes about ethnicity which were always made fun of...became untenable when they also had a hard edge and were meant to ridicule. How did Don Rickles survive? Because even though he picked on the caricatures of Jews and Poles and Italians they were funny and people laughed. I remember moving to NYC in 1987 and being invited to an Italian wedding of one of my we all off clients. Every caricatures of Italians you can think of were on display. It was a parody of the Godfather. One of my clients who I met early on took me to lunch. And started telling me that people will talk about him being in the mafia and how it was ridiculous. He told me he knew lots of people and liked to help people. Indeed my boss told the guy was possibly connected to the Mafia. Rumor or not, just know what you are walking in to.

After he went his spell and guy in a black suit, black hat, white shirt and yellow tie came up to the table. Got down on one knee and kiss the pinky ring my client was wearing. Nonplussed with what I imagine my mouth open he looked at me, slightly embarrassed and smiled. He and his son treated me wonderfully over the next 16 years.....but I was reminded there is a reason each ethnic group has is caricatures.

Comedy? I watched Robin Williams at the Comedy Club in Hermosa Beach pretend to be a penis for about an hour. I hardly caught my breath I was laughing so hard. I miss inappropriate comedy. Archie Bunker was hysterical and made a point. I seriously cannot imagine comedy with the chance someone will be offended. Can you go too far? Of course. Kevin Hart being canceled because he made gay jokes? Give me a break. Get over yourself. Learn to laugh because right now if you are not laughing you are probably crying.

what's healthier the tolerant atmosphere or forcing people to go without their phones for a couple hours?

It is amazing that we have to celebrate a comedy club for allowing comedians to take risks. When did free speech become an anomaly?

I hate it when authors mischaracterize comedy routines or quote other people to imply that a comedy routine is something other than it is. I saw Dave Chapelle’s Netflix special, and the long piece about a trans-woman that he befriended is not transphobic. I’ve also seen Louis CK’s SNL monologue about pedophiles. To this day, that monologue is the most brilliant, high-wire comedy piece that I have seen. It took incredible nerve to do it in front of a national TV audience, which made it even better. And, it was intentionally provocative, but in my opinion, only disturbing in that it makes you think about how messed up pedophiles are. So, f- all these chattering idiots in the press trying to stir stuff up by smearing good comedians.

"Suddenly the comedian turned MMA commentator turned Fear Factor host turned most famous podcaster on Planet Earth"

I also fondly remember his stint on Newsradio. Though he wasn't the star, every character on the show made it an enjoyable watch. That show was underrated in my opinion.

Joe has reinvented himself so many times, how can you not be impressed.

Jonny Carson minted an entire generation of comedians.

Joe Rogan will do the same.

I admire Rogan, his podcast is excellent and he is super informed about the complex and diverse subjects he covers.

Let the free market speak, loudly.
