As for Shellenberger, he's just a typical upper-middle-class Lefty, running in a one-party state. Yes, he's a little more human than the evil droid, but ultimately, any government he might form would be one that fundamentally distrusts human agency, but that miraculously thinks the same humans can do no wrong if the right few are allowed to run the show.

Honestly, who actually "cares" about California? I was just in San Francisco (still one of my favorite places), and it is what it is, warts and all. I kept hoping to see some actual sidewalk shitting, but the people in the tents must've been sleeping in. Want an authentically scary place? Try walking around Memphis...

The opioid crisis afflicting legacy Americans is real.

The despair that comes with the breakdown of legacy American families is real.

You take away a legacy American’s job and ship it to the Giga factory in Shanghai and you destroy his family.

That is what American CEOs have done and are continuing to do in the name of libertarian principles.

Meanwhile Newsom rather keep the 160K homeless people around and cater to the NGO interests while legacy Americans cede the state economy to immigrants

Yes, all those things are true. Shellenberger will not change any of it. Government will never fix the problems it has itself created
