Bari, when you talk about the vaccine, it would be great to present both sides of the argument. It's entirely reasonable that some people want to wait for the regular FDA approval (and no liability protection!) before taking the vaccine. BTW - What are your thoughts on Geert Vanden Bossche? https://youtu.be/BNyAovuUxro . Oh, and btw, I wish you'd watch the whole segment of Tucker, as opposed to relying on twit, which takes a hyperbole out of context. Still love your writings, but this one was disappointing - not for the opinions, but for the one sidedness and quality of the examples.

"Geert Vanden Bossche"

For the peanut gallery, I will note that he is a veterinarian. I'll also add that his claims have been refuted, and he categorically ignores all refutations, a common trait among anti-Vax grifters.

Wow, just wow Kevin, do your research. Geert Vanden Bossche is far from an anti-vaxxer. He is actually a vaccine researcher and developer with a PhD in virology (and yes, a veterinarian). He thinks the Covid vaccines are fantastic - his concern is that due to the way they are being delivered, there is a risk that the virus will escape the immunity conferred by the vaccine, which could be a nightmare scenario. It is easy to slap the label "anti-vax grifter" to try to shut down an important conversation. I would suggest you listen to the very sober conversation he had with Bret Weinstein. He just has a hypothesis that the experts should be considering.... that's all.

That conversation was alarming and fascinating. I wish someone would debate him - not shut him down- so we could all feel more comfortable about this strategy. His analysis seemed well thought out and with rational concern for its long term success.

None of these people want a debate.

Can you provide links to the "refutations" you cite?

Thanks for the link.

A bit more snark than necessary but a reasonable analysis/assessment. He agrees that the points brought up by Vanden Bossche need to be looked into and evaluated. He says they have and Vanden Bossche says no-one is listening. Clearly there is some listening going on. Weinstein gave him over an hour on his podcast and asked lots of questions. Unfortunately we live in a world where public health officials have lost almost all credibility and we have nobody to turn to to act as an honest broker.

And elsewhere. His primary contention is that somehow vaccinating will bring about vaccine escape. The best way to prevent that (even if we cede the premise) is to vaccinate as many people as possible.

I presume you are a virologist Kevin. I listened to the conversation with Bret Weinstein, a evolutionary biologist who understood Vanden Bossche's hypothesis and believed it was something we should consider. A lot of their discussion went over my head, but I got the gist. Dr. Weinstein is very credible and if he takes this as something we should consider, I am not going to dismiss it. But you, I guess understanding this better than Bret Weinstein, brush off the hypothesis altogether based on??? How about you listen to the Weinstein podcast? It is really fascinating. It might even help open you mind rather than jump to conclusions, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNyAovuUxro

I'm not going to watch a 2-hour video when his primary points have been refuted (repeatedly). People like him hop on YouTube and do a viral video, and then proceed to summarily ignore their critics.

Is it your opinion or @Bari 's?
