Want to avoid civil war 2.0? MSM (especially CNN, NYT , MSNBC) need to be totally honest about their misleading and dishonest reporting of the past 5 years .

Can start with

1- Dossier and Trump collusion

2- call out Adam Shiff and other Dems for knowingly misleading the public

3- stop misrepresenting the Georgia Voting law - fine if they disagree but it is not Jim Crow 2.0

4 - Call out the dishonest handling of Hunter Biden story

5- stop saying CRT is not taught in schools. Of course the theory is not taught to kids but that is not relevant. What is relevant is that schools have already implemented many of its principals

6- give accurate context to the “good people on both sides “ comment - and tell people how Trump clarified it a minute after he said it. No doubt a dumb comment but he was not calling neo-nazi very fine people . Barry , you are great but this applies to you too 🤗🤗

7- Lies and misinformation around Kavanaugh and Covington kids.

7 - cover the Rittinghouse truthfully

He probably broke a gun law (due to his age) but anyone watching the trial can see it was self defense . CNN not showing relevant clips

8 - apologize for calling riots peaceful protest

There is sooo much . But media , senior Dem’s lack of leadership due to fear of squad is playing a major role in the divide . Time to call them out .

And there is so much more

A few others :

- pre election, Totally dismissing the lab leak theory despite very reputable scientist insisting it was likely

- never properly informing the public about the Clinton involvement in the Dossier

There is so much and my main point is that their obviously dishonest and misleading reporting , demonizing all those who disagreed , not pushing back on the narratives around all People who voted for Trump (notice how I didn’t say Supporters ) as white supremacist , etc

Certain far right folks were also pretty bad but no comparison . Media needs to understand that it played a major roll in stoking tensions

Eugyppius has a substack article that is a great description of some of the dynamics that leads to this kind of phenomenon. He is describing specifically the COVID response, but what we're talking about here has a lot in common, in terms of how it is organized and comes to pass. That is to say, it's not strictly organized but more emergent.

The dynamics of TDS and Trump's threat to status quo politics and his huge popularity, the MSM-driven destruction Trump at all costs, the consistent lying and covering for all manner of bureaucratic malfeasance in the service of unseating Trump, protection of state actors and dissemination of state propaganda, especially when COVID arose and was the perfect way to derail everything to eliminate Trump.

Then, the promulgation of insane viewpoints of how the world works, around racism, police violence, the rioting, fake apologies from multinationals, CRT and intersectionality, gaslighting people into believing complete nonsense with an aim to demoralize. A large proportion of the bureaucracy and political apparatus coalesced around the idea of making things as bad as possible (and making a buck at the same time), in an effort to boot Trump - and when all that failed, diddle the vote! It's like an allergic reaction or immune response driven by an infestation of parasites.

Huge numbers of useful idiots who apparently learned this stuff in a college seminar on victim studies, peppered with perhaps a million-strong group of Chinese assets (at least according to the spreadsheet) to help it along.

They got what they wanted, and now what? We find out what comes next. I'm not looking forward to that part.

Correct . We have gone from the liberal philosophy of “the ends do not justify the mean” to “resistance by any means necessary” , from “two wrong do not make a right “ to “eye for eye…” and from “sticks and stones may break my bones and names will never harm me “ to “speech is violence”

And I would love to see Bari do a piece on it . IMO , it is a major story.

I like your optimism, but I'm not sure MSM can be salvaged. It's too bad because it's really done a number on the mental state of the remaining people who actually believe it.

I think mainstream media drifts right and left, but I also think the big majors have incentives to drift back to the middle when they get way out in the weeds. I see that shift happening at the NYTs. Its really quite interesting. I'm glad I didn't cancel my subscription.

There's been some interesting pushback in the comment section on a lot of the topics that have been brought up by Bari Weiss, especially dealing with academia, free speech and racial policies. I'm noticing a new crop of opinion pieces, especially by black writers that are challenging the popular illiberal liberal ideals.

The far right or far left media outlets are catering to the most radical, politicized people. The profit motive of the social media has even more incentive to amplify radical ideas. Negativity sells. It motivates and excites people. People engage with fear, hate and anger. Social media sells eyeball engagement.

Sharon....Can you address one or many specific issues as examples, otherwise when you say far left/right this or that, i get no idea on "just what you are saying".

My example would be the Hunter case, what do you find, another point is the Adam Shiff case proclaiming "he had evidence" concerning Trump Collusion. To me, Hunter case was not covered and Shiff, nite after nite we were given lies.

The Kyle case was a complete lie, given by the overall media, just to generate eager interest, Not Truth...thanks

I appreciate your respectful tone in responding to me. Thank you.

To be honest, the far right and far left media are only in my peripheral vision.

So offhand I can't give specific examples. I can count the number of times I've watched television news in the last year on one hand. I think that's where most of the excitement negative lies. BUT I don't watch it, so I could be wrong.

I read some in-depth reporting in the Economist about Biden and Ukraine, the shifting politicians, anti-corruption, Hunter etc. So, I haven't paid any attention to the on-going Hunter Biden story.

I read the Mueller Report and listened to Trumps own statements, and I think he welcomed Russian assistance, which is norm breaking. My understanding is that collusion isn't a legal term. I didn't listen to Adam Shiff at all.

I really didn't pay much attention to the Kyle case. I don't like speculating on on-going criminal cases because there's just too much I don't know.

I am disturbed by vigilante law enforcement. I think its dangerous.

I believe in peaceful protest, but property damage, assault and looting are criminal acts and should be treated as such.

I would say that the far left condoned the violence during the George Floyd riots.

I just read in the local paper that Portland, OR put in something like $44 million more into it's police dept. They didn't choose to de-fund the police.

I voted to raise our property tax to support local law enforcement.

The great thing about democracy is there is a self-correcting mechanism. I bet the elected leaders in Seattle and Portland, who let rioters get out of hand, are going to suffer at the polls. NYC didn't choose any of the far left candidates, they chose the former police officer.

I am most concerned about how we get back to believing in the institutions that keep our elections free and fair.

Sharon...very good response, lots of good points. I too have very little time for TV, I do get most of my news from radio and that puts me on the right. I do have a problem with terms far right and far left, my opinion, these terms let many off too easy...just me.

I put in the following extremes to give examples, of how far off the main media goes to toe dance around "the facts", the false news has a 6/1 advantage in programs, although none of the 6 have as many viewers as Fox, they still influence way too many people. Thus, the 6 prevent "self-correcting mechanism".

Ex. Biden while VP goes to a foreign country with the threat to remove a $600 Billion gift from the BO administration, unless an investigator is removed from a case that involves the company of which his son Hunter ($80,000/mo.) works. Biden gives the country time to consider and they remove the investigator, ALL of the above is on Camera, but not on the news from THE 6.

The Trumpty/Russian collusion while being investigated seems full of lies. Danchenko, giving false statements (5 counts) to Steele (comissioned by Dem nat comm.)/ Hillary.

The above, took Much credence from the Trumpty reputation, while in office...fact.

The USA and the World was headed to in positive direction, While the 6 (media) did the tip toe dance for the "self-correcting base voters". The "6" will throw a bone in to make the falsity appear proficient.

We should make no mistake about the new Georgia voting law, the "6" pushed the lie, giving the law a "Jim Crow 2.0" a traditional practice usage. While the voting laws of Del.(Bidens homey) are still more restrictive to the voter. But Please, do not compare, nor at any time should the "6" let out the Specifics on these two States voting laws...

My bottom line, the "6" has far too many lies to allow the USA to correct thru voting, people get too much lo'co-weed and loose grip on the "mechanism" to correct.

The Kyle Trial, i cried with (result) joy, was over the top, i listened to two minutes of lies and detestable "6" comments, one example: Joe, early TV guy, saying how "Kyle ran thru town firing at will", before the end of the trial he(JOE) is giving out lies.

At 17 years of age, i congratulate Kyle for his Marksmanship...after he spent 2 hours trying to clean graffiti from school building...thanks

Good luck to both and then some...yepper

All good points but objectively, the news division at Fox is the only major cable or traditional news channel that got most things correct.

Their opinion shows may be “over the top” at times but unlike Rachel Maddow, Joy Reid , Brian Seltzer and others , they did not knowingly push fake narratives

I am not optimistic - but one can’t talk about bringing the country together and avoiding further dividing the media, academia and sadly many “religious “ leaders need to come clean

Very much agree. It seems like so far the MSM and many of these other institutions are just being bypassed, and, while it's not bringing things together that well per se, maybe after a long process things will resolve somewhat
