"who is actually running Iran, a country that has kept the status of its leadership obscured—only to its advantage."

How has the obscured status of Iran's leadership given them an advantage in negotiations? What points have they won at the table? What has the U.S. buckled on, due to the confusion?

A silly, kneejerk assumption. I'm not sure there really is a negotiation. Give up the nukes and lay down your arms or die is pretty much the only terms, no?

Kind of sounds like obvious end point in terms of historic summary of wars on earth, huh?

Obama must be so excited that the DSA is taking over the DNC. He has worked really hard for most of their positions, especially the one about destroying Israel. Mamdani is the poster boy for everything Obama stands for and how he tried to change the US. He was just a few years too early. He still had to deal with a DNC that was pretty much proIsrael so as much as he tried to tie Israel's hands in defending herself or putting restrictions on weaponry he could only go so far. He must be having a party knowing that 40 of the 47 democratic senators voted to stop weapons to Israel. He probably uncorked a bottle of very expensive champagne.

Remember Obama wrote an essay on medium at the time of October 7 basically saying that Hamas and Israel were no different, and no matter how many times prominent democrats reached out to Michelle and asked her to condemn the sexual violence of October 7, she has refused and still refuses to condemn what Hamas did. The DNC did not turn into Jew hating shitbags over night. This was a long time in the making. That the proIsrael Jews in the DNC didn't see it coming well this is no them.

From the South China Morning Post today (20-04). This is lead of a longer article. China has finally publicly commented.

"The Strait of Hormuz should remain open, Chinese President Xi Jinping has said in a phone call with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, according to state broadcaster CCTV."

"Former president Barack Obama and New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani led a sing-along and read to preschoolers at a local childcare center on Saturday. "

Did the kids have to make a "contribution" to the little socialist and Barry's library before they could participate?

Fascinated by the NIMBY/YIMBY angle on data center buildout. The economy is screaming for it, but who decides where they go?

Added a question to Votto about this brewing lightning rod: “ Local opposition to data center construction should not be allowed to impede the infrastructure buildout the economy is asking for.”

Explore this and other questions across a variety of dimensions if you like interesting cross-tabs and cool charts at: votto.app/freepress

Re: Emergency Docket. It seems obvious there are more because partisan activist Democrat judges keep issuing known-unconstitutional bans on Trump. That also explains the high win rate for the Administration.

There have always been partisan activist judges; but never such a staggeringly high percentage.

"Two India-flagged commercial vessels were fired upon on Saturday..."

TFP editors: please do not use the passive tense in news reporting or analysis. Who fired upon the two vessels?

The Mandelson Affair in the UK continues. Starmer is giving a statement in the Commons about how he didn't know that Mandelson failed his Deep Vetting for a high level security clearance until last Tuesday. (Is he lying or incompetent -- the last time he could have known was 11.9.25 as that was when the scandal started to break and why did he not find out where all the bodies were buried then?) The sacked civil servant Olly Robbins is testifying tomorrow and people expect that he has receipts.

Starmer is clinging on by his fingernails but the most likely way he will go is through a Labour leadership challenge (given the widely predicted local election rout in 2 weeks, this was pretty much on the cards any way). It is interesting that the Guardian first broke the story late on Thursday. Someone leaked as they were uncomfortable about the potential for cover up.

This is the BBC live coverage. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/ce35qnexlv8t

Bill Maher had a knock down drag out with Jake Sullivan over Iran and the senate vote to defund israel that 40 dem senators supported ( including a majority of those senators who are Jewish or married to jews). Ro Khanna has also made clear where he stands as the emerging Dem leader in the House. All begging the question: whose side are they pulling for?

That's easy. They are on the opposite side of anything Trump does.

Yes they are. Just another Iranian proxy?

Making psychedelics widely and easily available for psychiatric DSM diagnoses is cause for concern

psychiatry is the only wholly subjective field in all if medicine ( not a single lab test, imaging study or biopsy to confirm one’s clinical diagnosis) is held to THE lowest standards of Evidence Based Medicine

That’s a real problem because once a person is labeled with a psych diagnosis they become uniquely vulnerable in that medical malpractice lawyers do not take psych cases ( except very rarely) even in the face of blatant negligence and wrongdoing.

As a result psychiatrists pay very low malpractice insurance rates and practice with impunity ( The wild wild west of psychiatric practice in America)

psychiatry has already brought us some terrible scandals

-lobotomies

-ECT -electro convulsive “ treatments”-ongoing

-transing of minors -ongoing

-the chemical imbalance lie to market and sell SSRI -ongoing

-denial of the severe withdrawal many go through when trying stop these drugs -ongoing

-Denial of PSSD ( post SSRI sexual dysfunction-complete loss of libido and inability to have sex and other emotional experiences-permanent in many cases even after a short course of SSRI

all of this as psychiatrists no longer do talk therapy to understand the person and their real problems , and schedule 10-15 min appointments to write drug prescriptions

what could possible go wrong with adding psychedelics to their repertoire ?

BEWARE

Every single one of the treatments listed is relying on synthetic pharmaceuticals or procedures with limited evidence of efficacy. This initiative is for research into the effects of ibogaine, a plant, on PTSD for veterans and has shown amazing results thus far.

Thank you for responding

-the original source of a drug is not relevant to its toxicity potential

-many drugs are derived from nature and then synthesized in a laboratory

-many of the most toxic substances are “ natural” -snake venoms are an example

-therapeutics are often derived from nature -dose is key

digoxin from the foxglove plant originally is therapeutic at certain dose ranges and toxic at higher concentrations

The same is true for alcohol

Disa sacks's avatar

None of the above addresses the bigger issue -that psychiatry -the only wholly subjective field in all of medicine is held to the lowest standards of Evidence Based Medicine( multiple reasons including the one I stated in my original comment

Adding psychedelics to the post h repertoire at a time when the health care delivery system is in disarray (including mental health care) is cause for great concern and pause

many thousands of ppl

harmed by psychiatric interventions ( drugs and ECT ) are often gaslit (“the drug /ECT doesn’t do that it’s your underlying diagnosis getting worse-here’s another drug-here’s more ECT)

These ppl are finding support and information on Social media groups and now with Ai

the not then do they find out others have been disabled and devastated ( made worse) by the psych intervention and hat they were told is “ fast safe and effective)

1000% The SSRI/Pharma route has shown to be a total disaster for our veterans. The Jocko Podcast, Cleared Hot, & Shawn Ryan Show have all had 2+ hour discussions with vets that have undergone these treatments who claimed it has saved their lives.

Disa sacks's avatar

Will the use of psychedelics be restricted to the PTSD of combat veterans ( the original description and definition of Shell shock) or will it be widely available to every person who has the newer iteration of PTSD -childhood experiences of varied kinds from severe abuse to milder issues) ?

psych drugs have a way of leeching into widespread prescribing for a wide variety of off label reasons

will they be available to children ???with rapidly developing neurons ??

as are many other psychotropic drugs including Antidepressants amphetamines ( ritalin and adderall ) ?

will physiciam assiststabts and nurse practitioners also be prescribing ( rhetorical )

Pts are not handed plants to chew on

rather pharma produced products

I'm not sure about all those answers but this is what I found on the EO Trump signed.

Key Aspects of the April 2026 Executive Order:

Focus on Psychedelics: The order directs federal agencies to ease restrictions on studying psychedelics, including psilocybin (magic mushrooms), MDMA ("Ecstasy"), and ibogaine.

Accelerated FDA Review: The FDA is directed to speed up its review of certain psychedelics that have already received "breakthrough therapy" designation.

Targeted Treatments: The initiative primarily focuses on treating severe depression, PTSD, and addiction, particularly for military veterans.

Ibogaine Access: The order specifically aims to establish a pathway for patients to access ibogaine, a drug currently banned under the most restrictive federal category, under the "Right to Try" Act.

Research Funding: The order includes authorization for roughly

$50 million to support state-level research initiatives
