Nothing wrong with helping the innocent civilians in Iran or Gaza or the West Bank free themselves of their oppressive captors.

Good for Trump for making this fair and enabling a democratic movement to potentially take place.

We're lucky here because we have the 2nd Amendment which many of us would use to defend our freedoms and liberties against any oppressors...foreign or domestic.

The good people of Iran, Gaza and West Bank should have the same opportunity for a fresh start.

Can we somehow arrange for Haviv Rettig Gur and Batya Ungar Sargon to get married ... I am so enamored with both of their minds ... I want them to be together forever and always ... obviously kidding (I realize both are married) ... this is more a tribute to the quality of folks that the FP is attracting ... amazing work Bari and team!

It's a classic case of formerly brainwashed people having personal epiphanies about what it really takes to enact fundamental change to our system of government so it's more responsive to We the People instead of monied interests.

This is really just a start, but with Democrats walking blind in the desert without knowing who they represent anymore, many former Democrats will follow suit and walk towards We the People fully aware that to fundamentally change our system...it takes balls of steel and whether you like him or hate him...the guys got a solid pair.

Bari states, "It is understandable that Democrats don’t want the U.S. to become embroiled in another “forever war” in the Mideast. Most Republicans, whether MAGA or not, don’t want that either. But this is not another Iraq or Afghanistan."

"Yeah but, this is different this time." How many times have I heard that? Since the end of the 70's, after Vietnam began leaving our conscience, we've been embroiled in quite a few conflicts which have been different and in some cases peace arrived in hand - for about a New York month maybe. A case will be made that this action was correct, not right mind you, but correct. But God certainly had nothing to do with it as Trump implied in his thanks.

We just don't know what we don't know for now.

But the fact Trump and Vance both came out and declared we are not at war with Iran and the limited response from Iran indicating moderation and no escalation....gives one reason to think this might end up being net net positive.

There will be some radical extremists who'll sacrifice themselves in a hotel or tourist spot in Europe or near one of our military bases thinking that's the golden ticket to a 72 year old virgin, but those will be limited and we can bucket that as "normal response" from a former adversary who is finally becoming "woke" to what the rest of the world expects from any nation on this planet.

I hope that I am wrong, but all of the praise for Trump is sounding a lot like or insane misadventure in Southeast Asia in the 60's. And, why are we no longer worried about North Korea?

Cooper Raymond's avatar

I don't think it's praise for Trump, but you have to admit the timing was perfect with Russia on their heels....Hezbollah and Hamas neutered...Houthi's in retreat and the Arab world in support of expanding the Abraham Accords and Israel already knocking out other military infrastructure.

Don't forget who was behind 10/7.

Never forget.

They said something in passing: China quickly re-armed Iran. Let that sink in. So very scary because China does not go out there and brag about its capabilities and threaten the world. It just does things. And it wants power and land.

China needs oil.

And China doesn't want to pay retail for oil.

So of course they'll give Russia or Iran weapons...in exchange for cheap oil.

I wouldn't read anything further into it.

With the tariffs, China is in a unique position to either think or thwim.

China is limit testing. Re arming Iran would draw the US or Not. If it didn't draw in US, Taiwan was next. Unlike Iran, China is a rational but evil regime. But like Iran, focused on improving it's world standing. If the US stopped importing Chinese stuff for 1 year, China would collapse.

I needed this so much. The limbo was excruciating. This defining moment opened one door and closed another. God is like that.

My vote for Trump was a an investment. The payout began last night.

So much of my family has Trump derangement syndrome. Given the choice of saving Jewish lives or voting against Trump, they voted against Trump. Even $10B sent to Iran despite close family i theater would not budge them. Pear pressure is very powerful as is group think.

My husband & I, and our children(adults with children) are in the minority in our family. We are Conservatives.

All of our siblings are Democrats now. They all think Trump is the devil. Common sense is out the window. I grew up in N.Y. in a family of realtors. I get them. They have the "deal" in their genes.

Bottom line: If Trump cured cancer, he’d be impeached….

There have been a few comments about Trump's reference to God in his closing remarks. Maybe, just maybe, that was intended to be a communication to the Iranian/Muslim people. Their leaders reference their God always -- their God is on their side and no one else's, kill in the name of their God, etc. Maybe Trump was trying to raise doubt in the minds of the Iranian/Muslim people about this claim of their leaders. Or maybe I'm reading too much into it.

You are reading too much into this. Donald Trump is a strong believer in God. He mentions God at many occasions. He believes God saved him from the assassin's bullet. He has a strong sense of mission entrusted by God. I, personally, believe he is right.

What the left doesn't believe in is forgiveness and 2nd chances, unless those seeking redemption are progressives.

Trump has done many sketchy things over his life and now he's atoning for those years and doing us a solid by changing the things we didn't have the courage or will to change ourselves.

If I had his money and was his age....I'd be living at the beach and eating ice cream everyday while my wife wiped the drool from my mouth. If I had his money and was his age, I'd be living at the beach and eating ice cream.

What?
