We watched the podcast with Jeff Ross, and we really enjoyed it. We were motivated to watch the Netflix roast of Tom Brady. It was outrageously obscene. And really not funny at all. We won't be watching any more of them.
We used to watch the Friars Club roasts when they were on TV. They were hysterical.
The rebirth of the roast seemed to be worth celebrating. The new iteration is just obscene. I wouldn't recommend it to my teenage grandchildren.
Obviously we are very old. But we mourn the death of taste and propriety.
I think it's coming back to show the easily-triggered that a real man or woman can take "hateful" speech.
It's a demonstration of fortitude.
Granted, you still shouldn't make stereotypical comments about groups--I like to say that as far as insults go, bigoted comments are the weapons of mass destruction, hitting the innocent along with the target.
