Can't wait for NY to fund the city by taxing socialists. They are the Queens of using OPM. Remember that movie Escape from NY.? There will more than a few brinks trucks heading South on 95.

Mark Halperin should be a regular on TFP. Oliver is an improvement over Rahn, who is prob a secret Mamdani supporter and Reingold’s insight into the mindset of the “everyone wins a trophy” and “gentle parenting” DSA generation is appreciated.

Trump has already shot a warning across NYC's bow (to the tune of $81 billion) and that warning is to veer away from electing Mamdani as mayor. If NYC voters proceed to ignore the warning shot, Trump will financially mangle NYC in every way possible and redirect every bit of federal funding he can find. He will do his best to impoverish the city and absolutely turn a blind eye to its problems, its needs, etc. If New Yorkers want Mamdani, they're going to get him in the raw. It won't be pretty.

Olivia is right that Mamdani is where the base is. 66% of democrats nationwide favor socialism.

To win, Cuomo has to steal all the republican voters he can. That is it.

Mamdani is a new voice that is young, intelligent, articulate, urbane, fashionably socialist, and appealing to the 36% of New Yorkers who are recent immigrants and the 15% who are Muslim, like Mamdani.

Cuomo is a washed up, fanny-grabbing, COVD-spreading, old-time busted Boomer of the most disreputable ilk.

Mamdani will probably win because he reflects the values of a narrow majority of New Yorkers. The rest need to hope that he will moderate after business sinks its hooks into him. He may well do that, being a socialist in words, and a business-tolerant mayor in deeds. If he does, he will be immensely popular, like other flamboyant immigrant-stock mayors who started out radical then went "swell" for business, such as Al Smith and Fiorello LaGuardia.

Alan Sewell,all of your descriptions

of Mamdani and Cuomo are true.

However, you left out one teeny itsy bitsy detail- Mamdani's JewHate and his decades -long crusade against acknowledging that Jews have the right to self determination and a state of their own.

Olivia is assuming, despite his popularity, that ZM won’t face plant once in office. No one talks about competence to do the job. Only talking points. Odd.
