Re: Shilo Brooks interview.

Let me preface my remarks by adding the topic of what’s happening to boys is yet another example of progressives mucking up the world with their dumb ideas. All that’s wrong with the world starts with progressives.

Listening to Richard Reeves and Shilo Brooks discuss the crisis among boys and men, I found myself agreeing with their diagnosis while questioning their timeline.

Reeves points to COVID as the moment he recognized something was seriously wrong. Brooks traces his concerns to 2018. As someone who spent decades in education, I would suggest the warning signs were visible much earlier—certainly by the early 1990s.

Long before the current conversation about masculinity, educators were debating the disproportionate diagnosis of ADD and ADHD among boys, the growing use of medication to manage normal male behavior, and the steady replacement of adventure, exploration, and heroic biography in school curricula. Critics such as Christina Hoff Sommers and William Pollack were warning of a “boy crisis” decades before COVID exposed it to a wider audience.

Many schools increasingly rewarded traits that girls tend to develop earlier: verbal fluency, organization, compliance, and sustained attention. Energetic boys were often viewed less as boys and more as problems to be managed. Recess declined, competition was discouraged, and vocational pathways weakened.

COVID did not create the crisis. It merely illuminated trends that had been developing for a generation. For those of us teaching in the 1990s, the floorboards were already creaking. The rest of society simply did not hear the noise until much later.

Ya gotta love all the armchair generals bleating like sheep that Trump has capitulated. Maybe that’s because, like bleating sheep, they’re too stupid to understand that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is nothing but an outline. In the sixty days following tomorrow, the details of that outline will be worked out. During those sixty days, the whiney little bitches can alternate between bleating like sheep and cackling like chicken littles.

They of course will ignore the immediate impact of the MOU, which is a 60-day ceasefire, or as Trump defines such things, “less shooting”. They will also ignore the immediate benefit of reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which means the FREE transiting of hundreds of bottled-up ships loaded with oil, fertilizer, jet fuel and other items to markets that are presently being deprived of them. Good news if you’re a consumer, bad news if you’re a democrat praying for Biden era inflation right before the midterms. It also dangles sanctions relief and a $300 billion reconstruction incentive for the Islamic Republic, AND a population weary of IRGC oppression that may be inclined to eliminate any intransigence on their part, CONTINGENT upon a final deal being agreed. As stated in Paragraph 11 of the MOU, which is linked below:

“The United States of America undertakes to make fully available for use the frozen or restricted funds and assets of the Islamic Republic of Iran upon the implementation of this MOU. The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran will mutually agree on the procedures related to the release of these funds during negotiations”. In other words, no deal, no money.

Admittedly, negotiating with the IRGC has never been productive for the US. Of course, the IRGC has never had to deal with Donald Trump. If they need clarity on what that means, Trump made it clear while speaking at the Group of Seven summit in France on Wednesday, warning that any Iranian violation of the terms would spark a renewed U.S. military campaign.

“If they don’t behave, we’ll go right back to dropping bombs right smack in the middle of their head”

Unlike all his predecessors, Trump has whacked them on the head before. There are still three carrier strike groups in the Middle East and more than 50,000 troops stationed at various bases there that can do it again.

Well, The Free Press is going more and more to podcasts, with no transcripts. If this keeps up, I'm dropping my subscription. Although the topics are of great interest to me, I do not have the time to listen to podcasts, even though I'm semi-retired. I can read 6 long articles in the time it takes me to listen to half a podcast. I love The Free Press, but I have a lot of other things I like to do, too.

Doug's avatar

I'll take the other side of that. I listen to podcasts and the AI spoken versions of TFP's articles while I drive and do housework and yard work. I don't have time to sit and read articles. It makes sense for TFP to offer transcripts - easy to do with AI - and give subscribers as many methods as possible to consume their content.

Wow it’s the full out Jewish edition today of a Jerry Springer show. The comments are just amazing. So let’s back up BiBi bullshitted Trump into starting a war that he didn’t have too. That is on Trump in the end because he is the only one able to make that decision. After he realizes that BiBi and the whole Jewish Neo Con lobby have bullshitted him he looks for an off ramp and he takes it. So ending an unnecessary war with minimal casualties for Americans in my book is a win. He finally puts BiBi in his place. IE Israel is a dependent state of the United States and it will not dictate to us our foreign policy another win. We actually did destroy the Iranian navy Air Force and air defense systems another win. He got the Iranians to agree to giving up their nuclear weapon program oh my god another win. The folks that are claiming all of this is a horrible deal. Tell us just how many Americans do you think should die in Iran? Give us a number because that is the alternative and Trump was wise enough to reject the Neo Con and BiBi arguments for that. If you listen closely you would have heard JD Vance tell you that much of the deal hinges upon the Iranian government actually following through on their end of the bargain. Otherwise it’s back to where we were before February 27, 2026 with their ability to get nuclear weapons seriously damaged buying time for the next President to do something.

Terry's avatar

Israel is an independent country and doesn’t need military grants, loans, and purchases of American weapons. They can (and should) make their own, or buy from Germany and other more reliable allies.

Evans, you are an honest broker. You address issues w specifics. Obviously on this issue we disagree. A few quick points

Policing was intended to call out those on my ( our side) for bad behavior or dishonesty. I think my views on free speech are well documented here and elsewhere. When trump or whomever steps on it, call him out. If only he ever took responsibility for errors or just dumb language ( that hurts the cause, and it does at voting booths). The dems are all in as we see all the time: c Kirk great example

As for america first i love your description. I personally disagree on America only but it's an issue that deserves a lot of focus ( i look at geopolitics differently than u do). Last night gutfeld and watters embarrassed themselves by extolling the virtues of mou by parroting talking points. Obviously it riled me up. And then gutfeld ignored the subject on his show. I woukd guess Tyrus would not have been nodding his head. Maybe they will get into tonight.

Hope the day goes well

Everybody's got an opinion. Take the long view. Let's resort to God's holy word, Ezekiel 38. From Ezekiel 38:5, we see that Iran (Persia) survives and persists as an anti-Israeli force, but not its leader. It implies that Iran does not possess nuclear weapons. Iran joins this confederation of nations, primarily Muslim, in an old fashioned land invasion of Northern Israel. God Himself fights for Israel as in the days of old. When Assyria dragged off 10 tribes, that left 2: one sixth. When God is done with this Ezekiel 38 confederation, only a sixth will remain. God keeps score, and He plays for keeps. While the leaders, peoples, and kingdoms of the Earth play tiddlywinks, God plays chess. We are not even in the end game. Keep your knife sharp, your powder dry, your feet on the ground, your wits about you, and your eye on the target. There's a Heaven to be won, and a Hell to be shunned.

Maybe I left out a few pertinent facts

Communism is right around the corner and I don’t mean China and Russia and the group

I mean in it cities and brainless youth who don’t want to work ever and want everything free.

And you have it good Nazi platner in Maine who will probably win and as to the far left in Congress.

And DC will become a state.

And then e will ask jump into the algae pond and celebrate with brainless Trump for the 250 celebration.

Don’t get me wrong

The democrats are as bad as the republicans so have a few beers and get ready for American football.

Charles Clemens's avatar

If DC becomes a state (call it Maryland East), that will be the end of America. The leeches and scum that inhabit our capital are worthless bastards, but DC is NOT a part of Maryland or Virginia and, if the rule of law begins to be used in America, it never will be.

Can’t happen without a change to the US Constitution.

Once again TFP has it all wrong (why do we keep coming back?)

The $300b is for Iran to rebuild their cities, buildings, schools, hospitals, roads, and general infrastructure. If they rebuild their arsenal we'll level them once again.

This is how wars end in our new, modern era. Those who don't like this outcome will not be happy with ANY outcome. TAKE THE WIN!

All the pundits have given their BS and where are we and the world?

IMO the world is in shit shape and the US is falling into the out.

Trump the great deal maker is so full of himself that he has no real comprehension of where he has left the world

But he has his doge coin and his fighting event and personally I am fed up with him and I am not into politics.

It matters little who the president is and the Congress is useless and the Supreme Court is verging into the non objective column.

Oh well we still have the Knicks and it is going to rain in their well deserved parade.

Can you name one person or one office that was closed by DOGE that had any actual purpose besides giving Democrats needless jobs?

I can't wait to see the Knicks fans burning more busses, attacking more innocent people, and breaking things. USA! USA! USA!

There is a large segment of the US electorate on the Left and on the Right opposed to this war with Iran. The President is the president of all Americans and cannot ignore the perspectives of these American voters. Remember Vietnam War, (a righteous war against a proxy totalitarian, supremacist, and violent enemy committed to world domination although not fanatics like the Islamic “Republic” –see the Constitution of the Islamic State where its intentions are clear). There was no "imminent danger" to the US; the danger was strategic, not immediate like Fort Sumpter, Germany's unrestricted submarine warfare and the sinking of the passenger ship Lusitania, or Pearl Harbor, or 911 or Oct 7th.

I think the " Iran Deal" has delayed the inevitable and yet, like Israel's failure to go to war with Hamas (see While Israel Slept by Yaakov Katz and Amir Bohbot will provide insights into the thinking of the military, the intelligence agencies and the political class like Winston Churchill's While England Slept explain an unwillingness to confront a real threat. The decision to delay the inevitable was rational and defensible.

I think, though, many critical of the President will walk away when 1000s of body bags of American young men and women are returned. Vietnam War has lessons, too.

It's complicated. The arrogance of apodictic certainty by so many is a luxury of people who do not, like President Trump and his Administration, decide the life and death of young people , and the economic destruction to millions of innocents resulting from war.

Let us all exercise some humility; The other guy might have a point.

And we remember our Covenant with the Sovereign of the Universe and pray for President Trump and all our political leaders that they choose wisely.

Forgive me for bringing some sanity and perspective to your comment. As of today, 13 American troops have been killed in 2026 by the Satanic Tehran regime. In contrast, 58,220 Americans were killed because JFK and LBJ believed in the "domino theory" and that if Vietnam came under the control of its natural leader, all of the world would turn communist.

"The other guy?" Are you saying Iran has a point when it states that it demands the total destruction of Israel and continually calls the USA the Great Satan?

Your "complicated" paragraph was an epic of stupidity and a great use of AI to find the big words.

In conclusion, I would only like to add that Lincoln's war was completely unnecessary and to suggest that the fight for Fort Sumpter was anything besides the suppression and control of southerners, I suggest you are a fool.

234's avatar

There was no immediate danger to the US in 1941....until there was.

Why not kill the people who want to kill you before & instead of giving them first volley?

Robert R Guzzardi's avatar

Because without an attack , like 911, the American public will not support a war. The threat alone is not enough to justify killing thousands or millions and destroying economic well being around the world.

What you and I perceive as inevitable is not a view shared by a majority of Americans which is what I infer from the opposition both Democrat and Republican.

234's avatar

We are neither killing millions nor destroying economic well being around the world. Are you able to go to work? Go shopping? Vacation?

Please stop exaggerating and worrying the world is going to end, which it will if Iran has nukes. I'm not willing to call their bluff if they're bluffing (they are not.)

A majority of Americans are dumber than a fencepost, and the first to cry "Why didn't Trump do something when he had the chance?" should they strike first.

Just maybe we should support a war instead of waiting to be attacked first!

Robert R Guzzardi's avatar

There will be killing if there is a war and there will be economic destruction if there is a war. We are not at war that is why the impact is so minimal and distant. Wars are bad and even a bad deal is better than war. It may work.

To avoid that the President made a deal. One strategy is the "Cold War" strategy; it worked with the Soviet Union. On the other hand, it did not work with Imperial Japan. The future is uncertain and it may be that caution, a deal and negotiation, is prudent.

We shall see. I cannot predict what will happen. Is there anyone who can?

Agree this is deal that will only serve to enhance Irans strength and all that money being released will

Be used to rebuild what the terrorists have lost - weapons and might.
