“I didn’t bring a list of conservatives to denounce or to deplatform,” Vance said. “President Trump did not build the greatest coalition in politics by running his supporters through endless, self-defeating purity tests,” he added.

Vance has aligned himself with the side that wants to keep the MAGA tent as wide as possible. And that means he is on Team Tucker Carlson.

____________

Hahahahaha. That's what Eli got out of that? Why is it TFP chooses lefty writers to "examine" Trump Team? Does Vance's comments have the possibility of more nuance than that? How is it that so many R's proclaim getting along with all and push political disagreements aside (as Vance clearly does) and at the same time excoriate a Carlson (not the phony Fuentes/Owens). Carlson is Carlson. I don't bother with him or Kelly. Sometimes I agree sometimes I don't. I am sure they are worthy of friendship. In my circle, my 2 brothers are an interesting pair. We were raised together, did businesses together and are retiring to the same area. One has an extreme lefty for a wife and is forced to watch CNN all day and her invective and TDS sometimes leaks in to his head yet he supports Trump policies by and large. The other is a relaxed Republican free market devotee who also supports Trump policies. Neither like Trump much. Me? I am all in on the pugnacious Trump and his policies. Yet, there is no one I trust and appreciate and (yuk...) love more than those 2 punks.

By the end of 2025 China will have a naval fleet of more than 400 and nearly 440 by 2030. The US fleet has 280. The US Navy has better technology but an aging fleet which costs more to maintain. China is rapidly closing the technology gap. Trump is facing and addressing a critical national security threat. Call them whatever you want to call them, but build them.

Nitpicking? Intentional? There is huge difference between "clemency" and "pardon." No matter what party or policy one is choosing. Strange comparison. This just cannot be an oversight. The Free Press is not what it was claiming to be.

"So far, Trump has granted clemency to more than 1,600 people during his second term, a big jump on the 240 pardons issued during his entire first term. Though he still has a way to go to beat Joe Biden’s 4,245 clemency acts"

Seems the FP is ignoring one of the top stories roiling the country. We should all be very disturbed and disappointed in the cancellation of the 60 Minutes piece on the US deportation of immigrants to the CECOT prison in El Salvador. I was an early subscriber to Bari Weiss's Free Press because I think the liberal/left movement needs a healthy dose of anti-woke (anti-illiberalism) critique. But we all know that money corrupts, and lots of money corrupts "lotsly." So when the Austin, TX university she helped found received 100 million dollars from Trump donor, Jeff Yass, and the Ellisons who bought Paramount/CBS now need government approval from the Trump admin to takeover Warner Bros, one has to wonder why Bari canceled the 60 Minutes segment.

Here's what FP contributor, Gary Kasparov, has to say...

Have you ever heard of the 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris? The one where they deliberately edited the content to distort what she said and make her sound more intelligent, right before the election? Trump successfully sued them and won $16 million, but most importantly, he exposed their grift.

Then Bari Weiss was hired to clean up the news content and restore some sense of integrity. If she says the Cecot piece was biased or distorted, I believe her and have confidence that her team will improve it.

She already explained. It was garbage. She also explained it is not canceled, but getting some journalistic improvements.

Maybe you’re old school CBS and prefer the “fake but accurate” approach of Dan Rather. Bari was tasked with getting rid of that.

She didn't say it was "garbage." That's your take without having seen the piece. The FP has been great in exposing hypocrisy and political correctness. The main way one does that is to "follow the money." So Bari has to show us some "clean hands." BTW, Dan Rather faced serious negative consequences for his reporting on Bush. Bari needs to step up. Accountability should be non-partisan.

Read again. I didn’t say she said it was garbage. I divined that word myself from reading her critique.

Bari has stopped a journalistic piece of garbage, not created one, as Rather did.

You are a very mixed up individual.

The best thing this man child can do is to resign from office. No he won’t do that but he will bring the entire country down with him. He just doesn’t care. He says he does but his actions say otherwise. And to think I voted for him. No, I console myself with this explanation, no I voted for the policies not the man.

JD has no morals or ethics. He has no backbone. We don't need a leader like that. The GOP needs a leader with values. Someone who understands that Putin is not a good guy. That Tucker is the enemy of the US Constitution. That America First was actually proNazi.

America needs a leader who actually has America's back and will let the People know when they are being taken in my charlatans and malevolent garbage. No there should not be a big tent for the GOP. And simply being able to swear at some racist shitbag because he called your wife a name doesn't make you a great leader.

Good for those leaving the Heritage Foundation. I am pretty sure that Pence's Think Tank is not going to be making excuses for antisemitic garbage like Tucker. The Conservatives got rid of the John Birch Society back in the 1960s. No reason to let their descendants have a foot hold today.

There is something really wrong when well off boomers, with money to burn, expect the younger generation to subsidize their life style. Yes there should be means testing for social security. When my parents were alive they lived in one of those 55 and older communities. There were some people there who between their pensions from teaching and social security had so much money coming in that they didn't know what to do with it. But this is also coming on the backs of the younger generation. We already know that pensions and social security are all based on ponzi schemes. It is time the real older generation some being so entitled. I want my sons to feel they have a future. With crap like this, they certainly don't. (PS I am a boomer and over 65)

Welp, Poor Russ Greene. Not a good look to start out with inaccuracies (lies??) The *maximum* an individual can receive from Social Security is $48,216.00. Yes, a married couple can both receive that making a combined income of $96,432.

BUT HERES THE RUB: *THAT* money was already theirs. Forcibly removed from their paychecks. Without interest.

STOP TALKING LIKE THAT IS A GOVERNMENT *ENTITLEMENT*

It is simply getting back what was theirs TO BEGIN WITH.

Here's another simply astounding fact: Paying out LESS welfare and social programs takes LESS tax money - meaning LESS taxes (unless you have democrats in office, giving away tax money like oxygen). LESS welfare recipients means (or *should* mean) more people working, more people contributing to the system, resulting in even LESS taxes.

Expand full comment
EKB🎗️'s avatar

Actually no, you did not pay in for what you receive today. The amount you paid in is alot less then what people receive today, and quite frankly went to someone else. That the government messed up with social security well are you shocked? But it doesn't change the reality. Those who are living the life of riley should NOT be getting social security. Social security should be means based.

And yes social security is an entitlement. It, like other taxes, are what you pay to live in the US. Dont like it? Have Congress change the law. Can't do that? Well that is what happens in a democracy. You dont always get your way.

Expand full comment
KARYN TRUITT's avatar

Ah, and neither do you.

Yes - that is MY money. Why shouldn't I get it back? Or the people who paid into it? Why should someone who NEVER paid into it get MY MONEY?? If it hadn't been *FORCIBLY* removed from MY paycheck *without* MY consent, I would have had the opportunity to invest it in other ways.

Expand full comment
EKB🎗️'s avatar

I accept that not everything I want to happen happens. That is democracy. That is the bargain you make for the rights in the US Constitution.

You pay taxes for alot of things you never see or get back. Oh my goodness do you not understand what living in a country means? Do you not get that the government passes taxes and you have to pay them? You have elected representatives who pass bills and if you dont like what they do elect someone else. You are ridiculous.
