Swift is a giant and a genius.

But please no cheesy low hanging lyric quotes! It’s been done! And while she has phenomenally clever lyrics, she doesn’t really comment on the human condition, more on herself or a dynamic that happens between two individuals. Business wise she wins first place but in terms of literature, no…

Pleasantly surprised by the lack of haters thus far in the comments. She's an incredible talent and businesswoman, and honestly deserves all the success and status she has attained.

Excellent article, I hope to see more pieces by Dominic in TFP. It's worth rereading a few times.

T Swift has done an exemplary job on the business side of things, and actually, even though I'm an old rocker from the 60s, I like a lot of her tunes.

This is an abrupt pivot, I realize, but another musical act that was superb - perhaps surprisingly - at making money, after some rough false starts, was the Grateful Dead. They and T Swift could not be more different. Or maybe not? Each wrote repeatedly about unsavory characters, shunned schmaltzy love songs, battled with record labels and tried to be more independent of them, and spared no expense in their shows, although the acts were very divergent.

"and spared no expense in their shows"

So did the Tubes, but it killed them (not enough off-setting hit records).

Love the Emersonian theme, here. Swift is an Emersonian self-reliant soul.

What was the point of this article? I feel like it was a lot of words that said a lot of nothing. Editorial decision to get clicks?

I can never understand why anyone could be against her. She’s worked her as5 off since she was a young girl and did things the right way…similarly…JD Vance has done the exact same thing. Hillbilly Elegy is a master class in how to overcome and succeed and his ideas in his book are completely down the middle.

This article was strange. However, I agree you have to admire the woman's business acumen, if nothing else.
