"For everyone who is considering assisted suicide, Miriam has a message: 'Think very very carefully about what you're giving up.' "---TFP

Well, " duh...."

How about plain old suicide?

Nick! Yes to all things outside! Do you have a good resource for the learning to tend blackberry bushes? I am tending two and aside from composting and fertilizer haven’t done much. Enjoy!

"There is only one serious question in philosophy and that is suicide" - Albert Camus

Regarding the Purpose of Life, Paramahansa Yogananda wrote, "God sent us on earth to play in his drama for awhile and not get entangled in it."

In my opinion, the purpose of life is to gain a relationship with god and to enjoy the life given us. I recall my ultra-Christian aunt who spent her last ten years in a nursing home, deaf and blind. Is this living?

Just as COVID and the bio-weapons used to create mutants were once the topic du jour on Substack, now it is all about euthanasia. When the experience of life has passed, it is time to move on.

Nah, Saturday is Children's Day on TFP. I'm 88 and I come here, scan it, to see just far from my youth I have fallen. I'm out in the ether. But actually no farther away than 13th Century King Alphoso X, "If the Lord Almighty had consulted me before embarking on creation thus, I should have recommended something simpler."

One has to ask, “Why do certain governments want us all dead?” Ask the 5 Whys and get to the root cause.

Trying to save us from pain and burden.

Why are we to fear pain and burden?

Because it isn’t pleasant and taxes over-stressed systems.

Why is pleasure needed at end of life, but not during? Why are systems over stressed?

Because to make people comfortable during life would require money and time, and systems do not have enough people trained to care for humans as we age.

Why don't we have resources to care for people or money?

Because of poor educational and financial decisions by government.

Does it come down to the Peter Principle?

I have not tried Pl@ntnet, but I have been using Seek by iNaturalist for years. It has the benefit of also being able to identify animals. This is useful when you catch an arthropod in your house and want to know whether or not you should be worried.

Also recommended, Merlin Bird ID by the Cornell School or Ornithology. It lets you identify birds via audio. Especially useful since you generally hear far more of them than you see.

It seems to me that with so much suffering going on in the world, you ought to think about what you can do to stop it; or at least help the ones that are suffering. Combat the antisemitism in universities; find out who actually pays faculty and students to harass Jewish faculty - if there is any - and Jewish Students. I let you in on a well-known secret: It's Qatar. billions of dollars! That buys a lot of antisemitism, AND - it's

illegal! - So what? Who cares about Laws anymore?

Well, the Democrats decided to ignore immigration law for a few years, turning the border into a one stop shop where you picked up your cellphone and a ride to the city of your choice.

It is more and more apparent that liberal socialism is losing its collective mind. In the US if a person is judged to be a danger to themselves or others, themselves being the key word here, they can be "Baker acted," evaluated and even (brace yourselves) offered treatment. In Europe, a 25 year old women with "mental health issue" is assisted in killing herself. See how I tied together mental heal and danger to themselves, apparently the European Union doesn't. Now Canada offers suicide as a panacea for what ails you. Were I a cynical person, I might suspect this was to save money for a ragged social healthcare system that doesn't see the point of providing geriatric medical care. What next canada; Soylent Green?
