If you weren't born here or haven't lived here for minimum 30 years, you should not be able to run for any office outside your local district, ie in Washington, DC.

School board, municipal committees, dog catcher , etc. only.

Their goal is to be a government paid socialist.

This Socialist-Democrat surge is being led by Gen Z

They actually want a socialist "nanny state" because they never became adults and want someone to take care of them. It is a direct result of being raised as the everything they did was a "good job" and, of course the phone addiction was devastating to the mind's development.

I get it, I am of the "old world" where we did everything we could to be independent and self-actualized. But buy doing so we were happy and successful, so I'll just happily fade away....

We have already seen thousands of gallons of ink spilled over the NY elections. Why should anyone outside of that rotting fortress of ego and moral turpitude give a rat's ass about what happens there? The die is cast. The markets are moving to Texas and the rich are moving to Florida. It's time to make some popcorn and watch these socialist idiots tear each other to pieces over the scraps of what was once a great city.

There is no mystery or surprise. Progressives are control freaks. This reality does not conform to strict plans and controls. Thus, they need scapegoats. True in the 1930s, true today.

Do I have this correct? New York--the state with 1.77 million Jews, the largest number in any state--just elected a bunch of anti-Israel (and likely, anti-Jewish) would-be political leaders. If I'm remembering my history correctly, this event was precisely the sort of thing that prompted many prescient European Jews in the late 1930s to begin leaving Germany.

That was then.

This is now.

In 2026, prescient they are not.

The only good thing coming out of this incredible rise is social communism is knowing I won’t have to watch Chuck Schummer stand at the podium and read word for word some false unintelligible dribble written by a 25 year old aide or see that condescending smirk on Hakeem Jeffries face on tv every day. Go forth comrades.

There is always an upside.

How do we continue to tolerate Hegseth, so unqualified for the position he has ascended. His decision making ability and outcomes are detrimental to our security and he has a history of outlandish and extreme behavior. We need competence at all levels of government and Hegseth is the paragon of incompetence.

Spencer's avatar

Please be more specific, exactly how have his decisions been detrimental to security? Please provide examples and their outcomes. Please try not to be emotional use facts. Thanks

Mark's avatar

Read the article. I am replying to the article which details the facts to the exact question you are asking. Also please refrain from your passive aggressive "try not to be emotional, use facts" barb. I know it is easy to sound intellectual this way but once you scratch the surface it is not and it changes the tenor of a debate very quickly.

You assume that Aaron MacLean is correct. He may be. Or not.

Bari needs to continue her "takeover" of all major newsrooms. This country is getting scary to live in and we desperately need common sense and honest reporting.

Why did they win? And why are they making such inroads? Read DataRepublican (Substack) piece on the demise of USAID and how Latin America suddenly has conservative leaders being elected. She puts it all together. It is time to wake-up to what is happening in USA.

Larrd's avatar

And why won’t the Republican senate allow common sense election reform?

I don't know about these "For Gaza" types. I mean, they can't even spell "Fuck" correctly.

I’ve read the series of articles in TFP today and they are revealing, informative and excellent. That so little (or nothing) of their substance is reported in mainstream media explains why such warped ideas as Third Worldism, anti-Zionism and Wokism have taken root. I’m an optimist by nature but today’s sound bite and absolutist world leaves little hope that a fact based argument can be had let alone won.

STOP CALLING THEM PROGRESSIVES! They are Socialists, and many could be defined as outright Communists.

Socialists are Progressives.

Clarity Seeker's avatar

does that mean they all hate America regardless of what they call themselves

Larrd's avatar

They all seem to hate humans and freedom.

Clarity Seeker's avatar

They like their freedom and their fellow travelers. Rules for thee ...

Larrd's avatar

What fun are rules if they do not elevate the rule makers?

TFP continues to tip toe around these "Democrats" while labeling conservatives right-wing or far right. They are only far right because Democrats have gone so far left they are 'over the cliff'. They also do very little on antifa.

There is nothing progressive about being regressive.

I really respect and empathize with the rage of Free Press readers. I share it. A lot of what we are doing is foaming at the mouth about indoctrination in public and university education, Antisemitism in the more respectable clothing of anti-Zionism, socialism, Mamdani, the squad, spoiled leftists, and on and on and on. We are talking to each other, after a fashion, but we’re not speaking to anyone else. We are venting spleens, but not airing anything out.

I don’t have any solutions either, so I have no right to lecture. Just what is the path forward here?

Big Noise's avatar

Vote Republican, like the lives of your grandchildren depended on it.

Lanny's avatar

Their lives do indeed depend on what we do now.

Found! Democrat leadership while eating my cereal this morning. Right there on the back of my milk carton. the weak-kneed and spot changing. Independents and Democrat moderates better wake up. Fetterman is the only one willing to fight the takeover, Shapiro is a nothing burger who doesn’t want to say anything about the leftists because he aspires to be President. He’ll soon find out the leftists will never back him.

Pamela's avatar

I have recently been wondering about whether Fetterman could get elected today.

"But, as [Mark Halperin] writes for us today, lately he has “come up short on one question”: “How did opposition to Israel become the toxic litmus test in Democratic Party politics—so rapidly, so emotionally, and so completely?”

From this non-NYC reader, it also seems critical to answer a second question: why do so few people vote, allowing such a small percentage of residents to decide political races?

Big Noise's avatar

Aren't there enough Jewish voters in NYC to overcome this small cadre of Jew-hating Socialists? Why don't they get off their asses and vote for the (somewhat) more sensible candidates?
