Regarding Anthropic and its new super hacker AI:

The time has come for corporations and government agencies to close all external ports and connections to their computerized operations.

Why does a power plant need to be reachable over the Internet? What a stupid vulnerability. If it is a must-not-fail service (power, communications, hospital operations), stop leaving the door unlocked.

Hackers can't hack when there's nothing to hack.

I used to keep a single open port on my home network, so that I could SSH in from any location on the global internet. It was so convenient! I could access files, run processes, even view my office through the computer's camera.

Then one morning around 4am my phone startled me with a message: "Did you authorize this login?" I ran downstairs and discovered someone had taken over my Mac; the mouse was moving itself, opening PayPal and wiring money to some recipient in the U.K., deleting my Google browsing history. They were smart and thorough. I powered down the computer and contacted PayPal, which promptly canceled the transaction and (I believe) removed the hacker's account. I changed all my passwords on the computer and network, closed the port, and hopefully have had no further break-ins. Though, malware still can get in if you open the wrong website and click the wrong link.

I still have no idea how they did it. A dictionary attack (trying a billion different passwords) would take a long time. Apparently there was some other way to get in.

Now think about government and corporate systems that are full of vulnerabilities, some known and some not. Approximately several times a year, we hear of some major government site that was compromised and a couple hundred million names, social security numbers, birthdates etc. were leaked. Several times a year I get a vaguely worded email from some internet services provider to my health insurer or credit card company, informing me "There has been an incident" and offering me some measly bit of credit toward ID theft tracking.

Just close it down. If you can't be on site to do your work, you probably shouldn't access the computer systems from outside of work. That's how dangerous the world is now.

Mythos has not been quietly rolled out. It wasn’t released. There’s a very interesting story here on what the internal testing revealed and Project Glasswing. A simple fact check would have found this.

The link in the text says as much within the first couple paragraphs: “ its not-yet-released model”.

That makes this journalistic and editorial slip even more embarrassing and inexcusable. Are they hiring former DOGE employees for quality control?

Hit send too quick. Point is that if you criticize Israeli administrative policy you are attacking all Jews.

If you question the safety and validity of youth gender alterations you are attacking the ENTIRE LGBTQ community.

It’s just not that simple and good journalists should be able to delineate.

"It's just not that simple"

When it comes to Jews, for millions of Muslims and progressives it's just that simple. Israel is Jewish. Israel bad. Therefore Jews bad.

If you think that's not the case, perhaps you haven't been reading enough news, commentary, and postings from around the Internet.

Jew-hate is big and getting bigger, certainly amplified by social media but it existed long before social media and bot farms.

Many, many reports of Jews being terrorized on college campuses and city streets, Jewish-owned shops attacked, both in Europe and in the U.S.

The safest place to be a Jew today is in Israel, ironically.

Am I the only one amazed that someone in the Trump administration knows about the Avignon Popes?

The writers of TFP are easily triggered. Criticize an Israeli stance and you are criticizing

Abdul El-Sayed's odds of winning the Michigan Senate seat are quite low, fortunately.

the muslims play the long game. they have infinite patience. they won 50% of the seats they tried for in 2024.

aligned with the Dems they will cheat and keep at it - they are smart and ideologically driven to conquer America. Unless something drastic is done- like confronting the very real threat in front of SCOTUS - making the case that this dangerous subversive ideology is antithetical to America and is therefore not protected,, America will succumb just as most of Europe has

I think the only hope we have at this point is that there appears to be a Christian revival among young Americans (and even young Europeans).

There's also the fact that young men (GenZ and younger) are trending far more conservative than their parents and grandparents.

Women appear to be a lost cause, though.

Defending the Vatican reporting without including the two on the record (almost) direct refutations is an odd editorial choice. TFP isn’t supposed to be like the New York Times and Washington Post.

My question is who really cares about a meeting between the Pentagon and the Vatican? I doubt it would be reported except it's supposed to make the administration look bad. The Pentagon and the Vatican should have zero to do with one another.
