True ... it is called federal immigration laws ... Just like all countries that have sovereign borders and immigration laws that must be enforced OR CHANGED, not just ignored like Biden did for far too long.
Where are Democrats prepared to compromise their demands for a "path to citizenship for all" (that will NEVER pass). Most nations have functioning systems of temporary and/or permanent residency and work permits.
Every country in Europe is also addressing this mass migration issue that has caused much damage. Most recent elections have gone to the right, sometimes far right. Time for the happy talk liberals to wake up.
Debating a fine, well-educated, intelligent, well-respected baby boomer friend of mine that is a life-long journalist and liberal Democrat. In our back and forth, he is defending the riots as "mostly peaceful" and against Trump using the National Guard to stop the violence. He is also against ICE.
This is an older liberal Baby Boomer.
He has TDS.
Gavin might be President because there are a lot of people out there like my Baby Boomer friend.
In my opinion they are cognitively disordered, but they are beyond stubborn to deny that they are wrong about anything.
Please forward to Sohrab Ahmari (comments on his article are turned off). I would be very interested what he thinks of my point (or even if he thinks I have a point).
Peter Gay in his book "Modernism: The Lure of Heresy" points out the importance of transgressionism. Although he respects Modernism more that I, I agree with him as to the essential nature of boundary breaking that drove modern art. (I will leave it Simon Schama's "Embarrassment of Riches" to define the commercial reasons for its success.)
In any fashion driven field, e.g. popular history, intellectual history, cultural studies, the drive be novel is needed to give a vitality to vapidity. Welcome to college.
Unfortunately, when all borders have fallen, one must needs become more outrageous to be unique. Witness post-modernism.
I believe it was Anthony Burgess who said "the fact that the situation is critical does not make it interesting" (I have not been able to confirm the attribution). The pointless transgressionism of pop history however does not take away from its dangerousness.
Really? Brian Wilson, one of the greatest musicians of our time is only spoken of as performed “hits about surfing, girls and sunny California.”? Disappointed
Batya's article on that fraud Newsom is spot on. The Dems are consistently on the wrong side of history. We'll see what happens on Saturday, when the lefty lunatics come out and riot across the country. We may need to call in the army to restore peace.
Everyone totally loved the "Barbarian Right" when they were going after black/brown people, but now that it seems they're also antisemites it's a problem?
I have had a dislike for Newsom since before the Free Press' twit with three names (TWTN) got into her diapers. That same TWTN who was good for both-sidesing the humiliation of Zelensky for a public show of solidarity with the Russian dictator. The TWTN who's come from the part of the Left that lives without a moral compass realizes that now is a good time to celebrate a cruel and illegal dumpster fire by writing a hit piece about the Californian target face of the Hitlerian assault. It helps a few readers forget the lives of good people that are being destroyed as we read. But I'd wager most FP consumers like a girl who knows how to shoot a puppy standing in front of a torture prison with her tits pulled up. TWTN should do a fan profile of that one. It might prove even more popular.
The civil authorities in California and Los Angeles had an opportunity to quell the riots at the outset, but chose instead to ignore if not actively encourage them.
The mayor and even the governor, along with various nationally elected Democrats, made pious proclamations of solidarity with the cause, even as well organized and externally funded groups deposited pallets of bricks and handed out shields and masks to activists who proceeded to grab headlines with dramatic scenes of burning cars and nihilistic violence.
Some of the most iconic scenes are actually having an opposite effect to what the Democrats hoped. In particular, for example, the masked shirtless man standing triumphantly atop a car (not his own, presumably) while waving a Mexican flag.
Note that New York City's civil leadership moved quickly to squelch violent demonstrations in the last two days; 85 were arrested by Wednesday evening, and perhaps more today. Some credit must be given to Adams for doing the right thing...for a change.

Once Again in any 80/20 issue The Democrats will choose the 20.
Will be anxious to see how this news is taken up by various media outlets. Eight of its staffers were killed overnight by Hamas, says the US- and Israel-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. Earlier estimates by the group said five were killed. GHF still suspects that some may have been taken hostage. Despite the attacks, GHF delivered the most meals it has in a single day today, according to its own figures. “We carefully considered closing our sites today given the heightened security risks and safety concerns, but we decided that the best response to Hamas’ cowardly murderers was to keep delivering food for the people of Gaza who are counting on us,” says GHF interim executive director John Acree. “We will not be deterred from our mission towards providing food security for the Palestinian people in Gaza.”

The CNN one is surprisingly okay compared to the BBC's heinous coverage which included these sentences to be sure we still know Israel=Bad, Hamas=Good:
"The BBC cannot independently verify the statement, and Hamas has not commented but it previously denied it had threatened the foundation's staff. Meanwhile, Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry said 103 Palestinians were killed and more than 400 wounded across Gaza in the past 24 hours."
I'm not a Jew, nor do I have Jewish people in my life. I'm writing as a concerned citizen of the western world.
In articles such as today's "US-backed aid group says Hamas killed at least eight Palestinian staff in bus attack" there is a clear bias in that you note that the BBC can't independently verify what the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) says, but the BBC includes opposing Hamas statements with no such caveat.
As you know, Hamas, the Hamas health ministry, and other Hamas affiliates are no more credible (I'd contend far less so) than any other source and should be held to *at least* the same credibility standards as any other entity or person.
Surely the BBC knows that Hamas is a terrorist organization that wishes to eradicate Israel, has radical violent ideologies, and is clearly motivated to harm Israel in the world's eyes.
With its unwillingness to hold Hamas to at least the same standards as other entities, the BBC acts as a propaganda tool for Hamas.
I have much more to say about your reporting related to this war, but will leave it at this today. I thank you for reading my letter.
Among other things, that last sentence is conspicuously *not* followed up with a caveat about not being able to "independently verify" *Hamas's* statements.
Indeed. I look at these things from time to time to see the messaging they're putting out there that so many people will just eat up without thought. They're actively campaigning, with articles like this, for antisemitism.
Here we go:

Newsom is such a feckless attention grabbing clown with little in his trousers or legacy!
Wake up, there is a reason many of our immigrants are categorized as 'illegal'.

Whenever I read things like this, I try to remind myself that the MAGA ecosystem absolutely loves doxxing people.

I have to commend FP on coming up with probably the most disparaging way possible to describe Brian Wilson's musical legacy. Really?
Here I go again… you all call this the free press but sadly it’s more of us against them
A lot of old boring news.
And esoteric stuff that is of no interest to most people

One of the best SoCal songwriters of all time.
Pet Sounds remains a hallmark of pop music and the inspiration for most music between its debut and Woodstock
Lennon, McCartney and producer George Martin would never have made St Pepper
Jimi Hendrix often cited it
A generation was raised on it
Did we really need an article to tell us Newsom's 15 minutes are up? The man couldn't win an election for dog catcher outside of Cali.
Please don't overestimate the political acumen of at least half of the American people.
100%

our king will solve it, in possibly one day! don't you worry- your kingdom will be restored!!!
Lol! He’s the President, not the King. Obama was a king. Definitely NOT Trump. Stop reading The NY Times.
lol! President? What do you read? Can’t wait to hear!
Why CNN and ABC of course!
You have a great sense of humor! Have a good night!

Sigh!
He has no interest in doing the hard work of governing. Newsom is lazy, and is only interested in getting to the next level with minimal effort.

Thanks for this info. I just looked and found it on CNN https://www.cnn.com/2025/06/11/middleeast/israel-gaza-ghf-attack-hnk-latam-intl and BBC https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c4gr1rk5nvxo so far.

I just left a comment for the BBC about their article. Here's the link to leave feedback: https://www.bbc.co.uk/contact/comments-feedback/ and my letter:

At this point, the Biased Broadcasting Corp. has zero credibility. The sad demise of a once reputable organization.
Its demise began years ago. Better late than never, I guess, but where have you been?
