The crazies running NY once again are willing to put ideology ahead of basic decency, not to mention Constitutional rights. Contrary to how the left likes to portray itself, there is no tolerance of dissent or choice. All must be compelled, under threat of state punishment, to participate in their unraveling of all that is good, true and beautiful.
Apparently, tending to the dying poor free of charge for 125 years isn’t enough. The modern progressive state demands complete ideological compliance: first the pronouns, then the assisted suicide counseling. The message is simple; conform, or be punished.
When I saw “Blame Canada” in the headline, I immediately pictured Sheila Broflovski rallying the troops to protect our innocent children from those evildoers, Terrance and Phillip.

ACID RAIN from the Pittsburg area destroyed thousands of fresh water lakes in Southern Quebec during the Sixties and Seventies. Nothing has changed. Those lakes are STILL DEAD.
Canadians in the Sixties and Seventies didn't use anything made from Pittsburgh steel to make their lives better? Where did the steel for all those automotive factories that employed thousands of good-paying union jobs in Ontario come from? By then Sydney Steel was making only rails -- the mill closed in 1978 -- and Hamilton made steel for the tiny domestic market in those high-tariff days. But the cars assembled in Ontario and in southern Quebec under the Auto Pact largely for export back into the U.S. used American steel. (The Americans weren't stupid.) The Hamilton mill used American coal barged across the Lakes because there is no coal in Ontario.
The moral is we're all in this together. We benefited from acid rain, too. Most of us in Canada couldn't care less about dead lakes. Sudbury smelting nickel and copper killed a lot of lakes downwind in Ontario, too. But a high-school boy could go to work bashing metal or putting nuts on bolts and earn a union wage that bought him a house, two cars, a boat, two snowmobiles, and raise two kids in hockey leagues, all largely thanks to acid rain. Great while it lasted.
The reality is our vast boreal softwood conifer forests, mostly spruce and tamarack, just aren't as economically valuable as they were in the days when American daily newspapers used vast quantities of softwood pulp for newsprint. Toilet paper and Amazon cardboard is pretty much it today. Even spruce two-by-fours for building houses come from somewhere else with older, bigger trees. Many sawmills and paper mills have closed in eastern Canada. "The stink of money" is no more. So aggressively trying to suppress fires that aren't threatening any of the tiny population in those forests just isn't worth the effort. Rake a Canadian forest? Get real, Mr. Trump. You're talking raking Texas. It's cheaper to temporarily evacuate those tiny communities south and let the shacks burn than it is to put the fires out before the rains eventually come and help. That is a recipe for smoke. Every year, probably, for a week or two while the dry stuff burns. Sorry, guys.
The United States doesn't need to "sue" Canada, that is, launch a proceeding in a competent Court that it might win or might lose or might have to negotiate a compromise settlement. It can just unilaterally impose hostile trade conditions as long as Americans don't mind paying higher retail prices that such things as tariffs typically (though not always) produce for Americans. For sure Canada doesn't pay the tariffs. But they are highly damaging still.
Of course the fact that Mandami is a fool goes without saying. I guess that he's just too stupid to realize that arresting foreign heads of state who visit the United Nations is a good way to get the U.N. moved out of NYC and a hell of a lot of local NYC revenue would go with it! I frankly could care less if the U.N. left this country or ceased to exist altogether. It has about as much credibility as the ICC, which Mandami seems to idolize, so let it move to The Hague and get the nest of conniving shit-weasels out of the USA entirely!

To arrest anyone in NYC, there needs to be 1) an offense (state or federal) within the jurisdiction for which there is probable cause that the person has violated, 2) an out-of-state arrest warrant that NY state law recognizes and will enforce pursuant to the Uniform Criminal Extradition Act, or 3) a provisional arrest warrant secured and executed by FEDERAL authorities pursuant to a US-foreign government extradition treaty. Exactly zero of those exist in the case of Mamdani v. Netanyahu.

Mamdani a state Mayor does not have the right to arrest an international leader. What a dangerous precedent if states could just arrest leaders they disagree with.
