As we tumble toward 2024, anxiety among Democrats is beginning to simmer. It’s easy to understand why. Just look at what happened last week: Biden was giving a press conference in Vietnam about upgrading the country’s diplomatic ties when he started rambling: “The Indian looks at John Wayne and points to the Union soldier and says, ‘He’s a lying, dog-faced pony soldier!’ Well, there’s a lot of lying, dog-faced pony soldiers out there about global warming.” Then he said, on mic, that he was going to go to bed. A voice suddenly emerged and jazz music started to play. Biden tried to answer another question, but they cut off his mic.
What makes Moynihan such a great interviewer is that he doesn’t inject his own views into his interview (if you are familiar with his work, you know there are several answers that had him screaming inside). It’s about the person he’s interviewing, not him or his own sense of “moral clarity”.
There are several points in the interview where it seems fairly obvious that Foer knows that he’s full of shit. He knows some of what he wrote is nothing but election propaganda, and does not have a convincing explanation that he’s not. Moynihan didn’t have to say a word for that to become clear, and that is what makes him such a great interviewer. It’s a lost art.
Foer is wrong. Biden has told lies about others: Most notably about the driver who was involved in the accident that killed his first wife and daughter. He is a serial fabulist and a demagogue, and his insecurities and chip on his shoulder doesn’t make that okay.
Foer wrote a book of fiction. He didn't interview Biden his references are all Biden insiders. Great interviewers will ask just enough questions, as Moynihan did, to expose the person as a fraud.
There are a few authors at TFP I enjoy. I’d like more news than human interest. I suppose the authors I enjoy are the one’s writing human interest stories that are newsworthy.
Honestly however, has honestly largely been a joke.
When I listen to Bari in interviews I hear a good person who’s is trying to be open minded and failing. This podcast often highlights hardcore partisans who are oblivious to their condition and don’t even consider being open minded. Is the intent to showcase people we’re supposed to have low key contempt for? I can get a faux deep dive into whether Joe Biden is doing a great job or just a good job in our NYT subscription.
Mr. Foer's first defense of President Biden's "style" is how he handled Putin. Interesting choice. Unwittingly the author may have done even more than David Ignatius to encourage Democratic insiders to dump Biden.
Is Biden Too Old to Be President? Frank Foer Isn't Sure.
I was unpleasantly surprised by this guest. I heard an awful lot of excuse-making and praise for the emperor's new clothes. Won't be buying the book.
This is just embarrassing.

Great insights on how the mainstream press thinks.
Great to get Moynihan doing an interview for Honestly!
Very funny episode
Yes, Biden is too old. As is Trump, Pelosi, and McConnell.
The best part of this podcast was the outtro music. The rest is Biden apologia.
Excusing Biden by saying "but but Trump!" is so weak. It is possible to hate Trump and for Biden to be unfit for reelection.

Entertaining and amusing. Foer worked very hard to defuse the age and competency about the President and failed admirably.
Love Moynihan, but I couldn’t listen to this after 10 minutes. I wonder who is paying Foer to run propaganda for Biden.

The reason our country is in its current state then: Messiness, Humanness, Gaffing, Insecurities… got it. It all makes sense now. Glad you clarified.
My goodness this guy is such a hack. Unsurprising for a russiagater
“On the brink of labor strife around schools”
Yes because the teachers unions were full of it
