What if America focused on being a prosperous and free nation without being mighty and powerful? A country where the middle-class would thrive, keeping and enjoying the fruits of our labor. We can still defend our borders without spending a billion dollars a day bombing other countries and use that money to invest in America instead. Could we turn the tide around for a more peaceful world?
Aristotle said was the only way a society could thrive is to have more people in the middle-class, to balance out the extremes of too much wealth and too much poverty, creating people who have a strong work ethic, who will produce a more moral and balanced society, without the extremes of a Have/Have Not society.
Patrick Henry powerfully summed up his suspicions of the future in his June 5, 1788 speech at the Virginia Convention:
