This is a distortion of events. The EO was issued on May 1, before the big beautiful bill was passed that all but closed down CPB. Thus, the EO was already irrelevant, or mostly irrelevant, and this lawyer is just exaggerating and boasting about the "victory", as lawyers will do.

That said, NPR and PBS long since discredited themselves with their far left politically biases; they are far more to the left than the general population or even some liberal outlets like CNN and CNBC which have been trying to tack more to the center in recent years (for example, Scott Jennings' emergence as a prominent CNN host).

Maybe Bari should buy NPR and revamp its editorial staff. Just a thought :)

I try to listen to NPR every so often to avoid being in a bubble. Often I can stand only a few minutes as they are so relentlessly ideological and deceptive.

Many world religions maintain that their doctrines represent the true path. These assertions are rooted in core principles that were established during the religions’ early tribal stages. Over time, these foundational beliefs have remained largely unchanged, continuing to serve as the basis for religious identity and practice.

Although the fundamental tenets of many religions have persisted, some faiths have adapted and evolved. This evolution has enabled them to coexist peacefully with other religions. As a result, followers of different faiths have experienced greater harmony and mutual respect.

Despite this progression, at least one major religion has not renounced its extreme ideology. Unlike those that have distanced themselves from radical views, this religion still upholds and promotes uncompromising beliefs. This stance can impede peaceful coexistence with other faiths.

Consequently, the world faces a grievous and massive unnecessary death toll. The question arises: how much good could have been achieved if resources and attention had been devoted to caring for all humanity and nature? The cycle of hate perpetuates itself endlessly.

Just come out and say it: Islam is a death cult.

I like how they always throw in the depression thing with the basketball player. I guess it's meant to show how nutty he is.

Despite his struggles to stay out of the loony bin, I'd guess about half of America agrees with his take on pride parades.

Terry's avatar

Probably more than half.

I still don't know why my tax dollars are funding NPR and PBS. If they do not have a viable business plan let them sink. And honestly, its not like they offer an alternative viewpoint. You get their viewpoint in every legacy media outlet constantly. Actually they are even more leftward radical.

Time for Europe to defend itself completely against Russia. If they won't support our armed forces during a war, they aren't entitled to have our people die for them either. I can think of other things our billions of dollars can take care of at home. Healthcare, feeding the hungry, fixing roads and schools....

So the government cant tell doctors what they can and cannot say, and can't withhold information about their children from parents. Blue states are not happy. Funny how that works in our republic. Its called the Bill of Rights. I wonder who are the real Wannabe Kings afterall. Hhmmm....

Like so.many other cases showing their moral depravity. Sheridan Gornan v Renee Good. The removal of the mural in Rhode Island yesterday contrasted with the hundreds of memorials to g Floyd. And on and on

β€œIt is difficult to conceive of clearer evidence that a government action is targeted at viewpoints that the president does not like and seeks to squelch,”. The judge has it all backwards. PBS and NPR are the ones trying to squelch viewpoints they don’t like. These organizations should have been defunded by Congress decades ago.

Terry's avatar

They were actually de-funded by the big beautiful bill a few months ago (after the executive order). This judge and the defense lawyer, crowing about freedom of speech, are just squawking and preening.

Steve G's avatar

Didn’t Trump just defund them? That doesn’t mean he shuttered them. They are certainly free to raise money from other sources.

re: Brianna Wu:

To quote Ruy Teixeira in these very pages: "In reality, sex is a binary; males cannot become females and females cannot become males. Transwomen are not women. They are males who choose to identify as women and may dress, act, and be medically treated so they resemble their biological sex less. But that does not make them women. It makes them males who choose a different lifestyle."

I was in Scotland, not long after Russia invaded Ukraine. As I left, one of my new Scottish friends, shook my hand and said, "Don't wait too long this time." While he was talking about our support against Russia, now the same could be requested of our friends across the ocean.

One of the more interesting things is the UAE's moves. It looks like they may join the US-Israel force.

They arrested dozens of Iranian money changers yesterday, closed their borders to Iranians and are making noises about taking military action. https://www.iranintl.com/en/202603319804

The UAE says the Strait is opening. https://x.com/saif_aldareei/status/2039271047753839096

It is not just Europe who have militaries here but the UAE, Saudi Arabia etc. They too can play their parts.

And because this has just happened -- the Met Police have announced the arrest of 3 more people in connection with the ambulance arson. https://news.met.police.uk/news/further-arrests-made-in-golders-green-arson-investigation-507878

2 are British nationals and one is a Pakistani/British dual national -- they are aged 20, 19 and17 respectively.

Maybe a touch of sanity returning?? Or just raising a cautious head??

Either way, a triumph for justice...

I think the UAE is a little irritated about having their expensive shit blown up.

Some might also ask : Big Government , ugh, what is it good for? Punishing free speech? Taxing and facilitating fraud, waste and abuse? Protecting borders? Or opening borders? Employing millions to ensure political patronage?

Terry's avatar

Mainly the latter. By a country mile.

WAR WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR?

β€œI said, war, huh (good God, y'all)

What is it good for?

Absolutely nothing, just say it again…”

WAR by Edwin Starr

All wars entail great sacrifice, horrible loss, and terrible savagery.

BUT this war sure beats the alternative.

I first heard about Starr’s peace anthem in 1969 when I was a Plebe sweating my way through Beast Barracks at West Point.

Now I am an old man.

My grandson is at Annapolis.

When he graduates, I’ll be proud if scared for him to fight evil men who hate our country.

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing"

Attributed to Edmund Burke

Thank you, and thank your Grandson.

I wanted to go that route, but Uncle Sam had other ideas. Their loss and mine.
