“The alleged killer had been arrested four times since February, but one of his victims, a 23-year-old woman, declined to press charges because, as she said, ‘I don’t want to put another black man in jail..’”

But AI tells us the crime rates are going down – plunging to 1950-60s level. Really?

If crime is not reported, then of course the numbers will go down.

If only all New Yorkers could be as civic-minded as that 76-year-old man. Everyone deserves a third, fourth, and even fifth chance. RIP Geezer, New York City is now a more just, nay, may I say it, a better place, due to your sacrifice.

Ouch. But want it the 23 year old woman who sacrificed the senior? That's what she wasn't thinking - that it wasn't just her own safety she was jeopardizing by letting him off. Empathy and justice require one another.

I'm sure the 23-year-old figured, "Hey, he was old. He's lived long enough." That is the progressive way, am I right?

“Its effort will likely follow the well-worn path of local reparations programs across the country: introduced with a bang and then quietly abandoned as the logistics and finances prove untenable.”

The virtue signaling is loud, but the results are quiet. Grifters looted billions through BLM. Perhaps Claudine Gay can donate her $1 million annual salary to reparations - embarrassing that Harvard still employs this antisemitism plaigiarist.

Harvard discriminated against the Irish. Show me the money, you racist, anti-Catholic bastards

AS A PERSON OF COLOR…

I appreciate the support of the lady who said…

“I don’t want to put another black man in jail.”

I and my brothers and my sisters of color have suffered for too long from an oppressive bourgeois capitalist system that exploits us and demands that we follow the laws like everyone else.

Surely Martin Luther King was correct when he said... "People should be judged by the color of their skin rather than the content of their character."

Beige is Beautiful!

You are well rested and in peak form

I have a question of color: is AOC a person of color; if so how about Marco Rubio? Marco speaks much better Spanish. Is that a factor. It is so confusing and it is crucial not to misIDENTIFY anyone these days as it might be the difference between incarceration or freedom.

This trend is not new. I worked in law enforcement in WDC in the late 80’ into the mid 90’s when the homicide rate was thru the roof. People arrested for murder were found not guilty by DC juries thru what was called “jury nullification”.

Drive a stake through the heart of this pernicious thinking and it will still comeback with a vengance.

Thank You Brother.

Agreed, my brother from another mother.

As MLK liked to say ...

"Justice anywhere is a threat to injustice everywhere,"

Afterall injustice is the only way to build an equitable society?

As my Brother of Color Ibram X. Kendi would say the only way to correct past racism is by current racism and the only way to correct current racism is by future racism.

As our sister, the great wordsmith Kamala Harris, tells us, "Racism is not who we are, except when it is what we have been, which is why Dr. King reminded us that the arc bends only when we bend ourselves toward the arc, together, in the unburdening of what has been."

Right on!

In 2024 we simply didn't deserve such an articulate spokewoman for the downtrodden.

Perhaps if we work hard enough in 2028 we can earn the right for her to rule over us.

FP—Why was Brown not in jail and who is responsible?

Matthew's avatar

Suicidal empathy, that's why. Nobody is responsible because nobody is accountable for their decisions anymore.

VA Dems like democracy so much that they’ll break every rule passed through democratic processes to get it. Harry Byrd would be proud.

Oh? You disagree? Jason! Lock and load!

If you enjoy popcorn eating politics, the current UK spectacle about Starmer (over 80 Labour MPs calling for him to go) and his fight to cling after his party was basically wiped out in its Northern heartlands in the local elections is quite the thing.

Will Wes Streeting make his move? Streeting is known to have his eyes on the top job.

Will Andy Burnham find a safe Labour seat (is there such a thing now?) in which to stand?Burnham can't become PM without being an MP first. He is currently the effective Manchester mayor. Starmer blocked his return earlier this year...

https://order-order.com/ has the rolling list of those who have called for Starmer to go.

The King's Speech is apparently going ahead tomorrow, come what may.
